Today, the 5 most vaccinated states (14M people) had
580 people in hospital, 12 deaths
In the 5 least vaccinated states (16M people)?
6,600 hospitalized, 104 deaths
Per capita , least vaccinated states have
10X hospitalizations and 7X deaths
So yeah, vaccines are working
Time to require vaccines for work, for school, and for travel. Had enough of this “waiting for data” bullshit. If you are unvaxxed, you can stay home and wait for the pandemic to be over, while we celebrate our freedoms. Freedom not to vax has consequences.
Regardless of the reaction, simple and scalable processes are the best. Sadly, scalable and simple doesn’t get into high impact journals, but the chemistry is oftentimes highly useful and practical. It’s sad that these processes are under appreciated.

How many people will die of covid as a result of delayed vaccination?
This is not appropriate caution. This is paralysis. We need to act with clarity in the face of the much larger risks covid poses.
Dear Media:
As you report cases of Covid in vaccinated people (happens: vaccine is 95%, not 100%, effective) and people who died soon after vaccination (happens: coincidence), please ALSO report on the >3000 people dying of Covid each day who would've been saved by vaccination.
Frankly, I don’t care what journal the work ultimately gets published in. As long as the science is of high quality, reproducible, and honest, that’s what matters. Impact factors aren’t important to me. I think they are harmful.

Good coverage of the latest messaging disaster, in a year with many. We are dramatically underselling the amazing vaccines, exaggrating the uncertainties and people trying to emphasize the good news are being drowned out, or worse. https://t.co/tszeMy1p7V
@JDon_chembio Things like this only make folks more hesitant to receive the vaccine. And as always, most news outlets care more about the big headlines they can throw to gain readership.
California is near last, 44 out of 50 in percentage of vaccines administered.
We shouldn't have vaccines sitting in freezers. Let's get them out there now, to essential workers and the elderly.
There's nothing more important.
People should stop calling SARS-CoV-2 mRNA vaccines a ‘miracle’. These vaccine are not miracles—they did not drop out of the sky. These vaccine are the result of decades of basic research.
Everyone who likes the idea of vaccine miracles should support funding for basic research.
Here I describe a brief overview of how the Pfizer/BioNTech or Moderna mRNA vaccines work. Taking a vaccine is one’s personal choice, and I hope this video can help someone make that decision rooted in science.
Latest communication from @StanfordVPGE, VPSA says “we must do all we can to keep our community... safe” but apparently that does not include @Stanford keeping undergrads remote, despite clear data that their presence will endanger everyone currently on campus.
🙄🙄🙄 okay sure.
(1/8) This has been a challenging year for many of us in a variety of ways. I, for example, have unfortunately lost family members from COVID-19. Despite this, I have a lot to be thankful for this Thanksgiving. I’ll share some of this with you. #AcademicChatter#chemtwitter
