Watch this for some Hoosier educator voices on the impact of our educator shortage crisis and the unsustainable stresses on our public schools. We need real solutions, not gimmicks.
ISTA will be joining a news conference along with a coalition of civil rights, faith, parent and public education groups tomorrow at 11 a.m. ET. We will be calling on the Indiana General Assembly to oppose plans to revive the divisive concepts found in #HB1134.
🙌🏼 Huge thanks to all of our members who have advocated against this harmful legislation! Huge thanks to the Senate Dems for speaking on our behalf so tirelessly!
My closing statements on HB 1134: “So the premise of the bill starts with a point that assumes that citizens are treated equal in the state of Indiana and that is absolutely not correct.” (1/2)
Over 900 jobs are listed on the IDOE website TONIGHT! Why isn't this issue being addressed in the General Assembly?? There are 161 SPED jobs. How did tying test scores to teacher evals work for ten years?! THESE are the real problems!
We hear a lot about Indiana's teacher shortage. There are 900+ teaching jobs on the state's job bank.
Here's the hard truth, Indiana has more than enough qualified, licensed teachers - nearly 206,000, higher than nearly any other time, they just don't want to teach here anymore.
Dems speaking as the committee takes final vote. Qaddoura: This bill has further divided the state, began with a problem that was made up, assumes we live in a society where everyone is treated equally when in fact people aren’t
My amendment was common-sense and simple, and I’m extremely disappointed that it did not pass. The fact that my colleagues rejected the opportunity to require Black history to be taught in our schools, during Black History Month, speaks volumes. (1/2)
