📢BREAKING NEWS📢
We 🎉WON🎉 our election. We are so grateful for the support of our 😍colleagues😍 and are beyond excited to start collective bargaining and fully join the labor movement.
🚨 BREAKING 🚨 In June, our union asked to be recognized. Since then, @ACLUofIL has declined to recognize us - and tried to exclude OVER 60% of eligible staff from our union.
Today, we're filing a petition for an @NLRB election. We're tired of delays and eager for change. #1u
We encountered the same tactic.
Management tries to steal power from the union by labeling staff as supervisors, even if they don’t actually qualify under the law.
Another anti-worker move from @eqca. You’re supposed to be a social justice org. Please do better.
Equality California’s leadership is arguing that 16 out of 31 employees at EQCA – more than half – are “supervisors.”
We know this to be false, and look forward to winning our case to keep our full and undivided bargaining unit before the NLRB.
🚨 Urgent #EqualityUnites Update:
Equality California’s leadership promised to negotiate in good faith — they reneged, and instead are engaging in clear anti-union tactics.
Here’s a thread on what’s been going on since negotiations began on 8/19, next steps, & how you can help
Dividing workers between different bargaining units is a known anti-union tactic.
@eqca your staff deserve better. Live up to your values and stop the bad faith union busting approach.
We stand in solidarity with @EqualityUnites.
NOW is the time for Equality California's leadership to accept staff's bargaining proposal and move forward.
NEW: We’re excited to announce that @NYCLU has decided to voluntarily recognize our union with @nolsw2320! 🎉
This is an important first step - and we’re looking forward to working w/ NYCLU to build an equitable workplace.
Our statement:
We're thrilled to announce that management has agreed to voluntarily recognize ACLU Staff United, now officially the union for @ACLU national workers across the U.S.! We're so grateful to our members and our friends at @NonprofitUnion and @IFPTE for all their hard work! 💪🍾💥

We are disappointed in the decision of the @ACLUofGA to use donor funding to hire anti-union firm Hirsch Roberts Weinstein–in direct contradiction to core principles and values of the ACLU. This only serves as a reminder to staff that our union is all the more necessary. #1u
101 years ago, the ACLU was founded.
1 week ago, a supermajority of ACLU workers asked management to voluntarily recognize a union. We are waiting for an answer.
The workers of the ACLU are celebrating our 101st birthday the same way we started: demanding our rights. ✊🏿✊🏽✊🏼
We believe in the mission of the ACLU, the work we do, and each other.
We look forward to being voluntarily recognized by management and beginning contract negotiations, as any other response would be inconsistent with our organization’s history, public positions, and values.
The ACLU began with our founders taking action to fight the anti-union crusades of the 1920s.
As the workers of the ACLU today, we believe that the principles and values we defend should govern our offices as well: justice, equity, transparency, cooperation, and respect.
Every day, the workers of the ACLU work tirelessly to defend all of our rights. Our union will benefit not only ourselves, but our clients and communities.
We are proud to carry on the ACLU’s 100-year legacy of supporting the right to organize and bargain collectively.
