I have repeatedly made this point re: Parliamentary Supremacy (which is the same for Canada, Australia, New Zealand…..) and that it was explicitly THIS principle of Parliamentary Supremacy (Blackstone/Pufendorf) that American Founder Justice James Wilson rejected because it was incompatible with the Popular Sovereignty of American Constitutional Republican self governance. The United States has more than 90,000 dams on its rivers. Many of them no longer generate power, hold back floods, or serve a purpose at all. They just sit there, aging, holding the water back.

Take one out, and the ecological recovery can happen breathtakingly fast.

In 2024, the largest dam removal in American history finished on the Klamath River, where four dams came down along the Oregon-California line. Within days, Chinook salmon were pushing into water they hadn't reached in generations.

By the fall of 2025, they had climbed all the way into the upper basin, spawning in streams that had been sealed off for more than a hundred years.

Damon Goodman, a regional director for California Trout, put it plainly: the rivers "seem to come alive almost instantly after dam removal."

Maine's Penobscot tells the same story. After two dams came down, the river herring went from a few thousand fish a year into the millions, and with them came back the eagles, ospreys, and otters that live off the run.

A dam is one of the few environmental problems you can fix by subtraction. Take the wall away, and the river seems to remember what it was.

I do love and appreciate the great cathedrals of Europe, and even those in the USA like St. Patrick's.

BUT...we have to remember that one of the most beautiful buildings in the world in the first century AD was the Second Temple in Jerusalem. In 70 AD, that temple was destroyed completely, and here in 2026 it has yet to be rebuilt, and despite the hope of Dispensationalists, it most likely never will be.

So why did God allow such a magnificent building to be destroyed? Because we the church are the the temple now. And the Greek word for church, ekklesia, has always meant a gathering of people, never a building, no matter how beautiful.

All those big beautiful church buildings, both in Europe and America, and becoming increasingly empty of souls. One Jesuit priest suggested that the Catholic Church might want to just sell them to the Muslims, as they don't seem to be dwindling in numbers, as a simple walk through Manhattan on any given day will attest to.

And we Christians often took over famous pagan shrines and turned them into churches back in the early days of the faith...

When you finally shed this mortal coil, are standing before God on the Day of Judgement, I assure you the last thing He's going to care about is how beautiful the church was where you attended services.
