We got good news today! Reading proficiency rose 4.3% in 3-8 graders in NM. This increase shows that the improvements to our #education system are working. We can't slow down now which is why I'll ask for $30M in the next session to build the New Mexico Literacy Institute.
Hot off the presses, effective midnight: how to seek asylum in the United States, now in 15(!) steps. https://t.co/6JToivBNQS
It's really tempting to flowchart-oversimplify this, but it's worth reading this through at least once so you understand what is actually required!
@DrFrankRoberts As a cis hetero-identified male prof teaching her "Master's Tools" in a couple weeks, I keep thinking of her statement: “Difference must be not merely tolerated, but seen as a fund of necessary polarities between which our creativity can spark like a dialectic.”
Why do we use the term "enslaved people" instead of "slaves"? Slavery was a legal status, not an identity. Our goal is to use language that respects the dignity of all. The term “enslaved people” emphasizes their humanity rather than a status imposed by others.
Dreamers are our doctors, teachers, friends, & beloved community members. But millions of them live in uncertainty over their status in the place they call home.
We must take action before the end of the year, & give them the piece of mind they deserve. #HomeisHere

We're encouraging people everywhere to use appropriate pronouns and inclusive language during #InternationalPronounsDay and always.
Never assume the gender of another person based on appearance or name. Instead, politely ask for and use pronouns to help create a safe space.

I’m working on a special project for NPR, recording immigrant stories. In the next few days, I’ll be asking questions about the experience of leaving home and starting over. To begin, we want to hear about the moment you decided to leave and whether or not you had a choice.
A federal court could end #DACA any day now. While #DACA is not enough for our communities, ending DACA would be devastating for recipients, eligible youth, their families, and our entire communities. If you have DACA, renew ASAP. Call TIRRC’s legal line 615-282-5544. #HomeIsHere
It is important to recognize the overwhelming majority of undocumented high school graduates are ineligible for #DACA. Congress must urgently deliver permanent protections in order to provide them with certainty and opportunity. #HomeIsHere https://t.co/VHkonkM8MK
