@erossqueensu so helpful to have a unit like this designed and ready to use! The explicit teaching of self-regulation is so important in the classroom and any activities to put these skills as examples are always great to have!
@VeronicaD50186 This is a great find! Older students supporting school readiness by mentoring younger students would also help them develop skills like communication and problem-solving while modeling positive behaviors and fostering confidence!
@FOUN100MEG Love this! We focus so much on explicitly teaching self-regulation in Kinder and primary but I think we tend to lose sight of that explicit teaching as students are older - yet we expect them to have/maintain those skills and give them a letter grade to it every term.
Would love to see this approach of transitioning to a skills-based approach in middle and high school supports Ontario learning skills by emphasizing critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving to enhance student learning and success!

@MmeSavary Great read! I think the literacy screening is a great way to spot students who need extra help early. By tackling reading issues right away, we can give them the support they need and help them love learning.
@mmelynde Super interesting article! As French teachers, we’re concerned about inequities in access for marginalized students. We need systemic changes and targeted support to ensure all students can thrive in our French programs.
@FOUN100MEG Great article! I too feel standardized testing could disadvantage marginalized students who may lack access to adequate resources and preparation. Would be nice to explore alternative assessment methods that recognize diverse learning experiences and promote equity.
