My heart is full 🥰 listening to the 2/3 Ss @stpaces talk about fair spending. With a budget of $20 Ss had to purchase at least 3 items to share. They talked about change, fairness, cost, and practiced add/subtracting amounts. Proud of these little financiers! @ONmathies@HWCDSB
Open tasks to engage all learners! @stpaces Gr 3s used @ONmathies fraction strips to practice fraction equivalency. Ss chose the fraction that they felt most comfortable modelling. Some Ss used 1/3, some challenged themselves to choose 2/3, 1/5, & even 1/7! @hwcdsbmathk8
An alternative to play money is the use of virtual Canadian coins from #Mathies@ONmathies . I created a QR code poster so students from @Stnichofbari can access directly from their tablets. Tool🔗: https://t.co/BcZZu6frRY.

@DrOlsen314 When more than one tile is selected, you should get the copy panel displayed (HTML 5). It has buttons to flip and rotate the selection. Rotation happens in multiplies of 90 degrees. In the app a rotation wheel is displayed which can be spun by the handle. https://t.co/lfsTcKwbez
Today's #3ActMath... where 2 brains are better than one! I popped into a breakout room to find these two working together using @ONmathies virtual coins! @GEVSchool
@DrOlsen314 Sorry, when you said "app" I thought iOS or Android which has a bit more functionality! See https://t.co/49KqRcM14j We shaved off some of this functionality when we created the HTML 5 version!
There are download links to Windows and Mac standalone installers at the top of some of the support pages. There can be lots of scary messages to actually use them through! Mac is particularly difficult. Just fixed the link for Algebra Tiles. https://t.co/F6R6FlFGGr
Had fun with fractions today @sttcatholic. Grade 4/5 did a counting circle focusing on counting with unit fractions, using tools from @ONmathies to model thinking. Grades 8 explored @numbertalks fraction talks with visuals and grade 5/6 played @SteveWyborney’s fraction Splat!
Great team work grade 4 students @hfcatholic as we begin to explore equivalent fractions using many tools (Mathies fraction strips learning tool, fraction towers and circles from MathUp, cuisennaire rods). @ONmathies
@ONmathies Grade 4 students @hfcatholic loved playing the Fractions Representation Match game yesterday as well as using the fractions strips learning tool to model and represent fractions :)
Concrete & diagrammatic representations of integers are so important to develop a deep understanding of operations with integers. Visuals help Ss understand the WHY of algorithms. Games such as Minus Mania @gregtangmath are visual & fun practice too! @ONmathies@MLCmath@HWCDSB
Doesn't every teacher love a good resource? ♥️ I have created this list of 10 elementary #math curriculum resources for pre-service and in-service teachers. Here is the link: https://t.co/dsOJkBmJMB
