The new report from our Global Council on Inequality, AIDS and Epidemics, includes a key recommendation that the Global Coalition on Regional Production of Vaccines, championed by Brazil, could play an important role here, and that the international financial institutions should be encouraged to finance it. In 2023, Africa received $72 billion in aid—yet lost $88 billion to illicit financial flows (mainly tax avoidance) and repaid $101 billion in debt to mostly Global North creditors. A perverse net outflow. A structural injustice.

To #EndPoverty, we need debt, tax & IP justice—and a new, solidarity-based model of development.

We are in a global crisis. We can resolve it through global solidarity. Now is the time for global public investment.
