@griffinli_ Thanks for making this! I would love a button to book both lyft and uber at the same time. Then once one books a ride, automatically cancel the other. I do this manually whenever the prices are similar.
I hate to say it, but @dhh is right.
Bought a Beelink ($800) instead of M4 Pro Max ($5000).
96 fucking GB of Ram, 2TB of SSD.
2.5M lines of code builds in 61 seconds.
and now I can't go back. Really great job to the @OmarchyLinux team.
Unless you are already rich,
Your own startup should be the best investment you’ll ever make — if it’s worth anything at all.
Let other stuff go. Just put your cash into VTI/VOO. Take that one extra meeting. Push on to find that better CTO. Go visit that customer IRL. Stay.
It is time to say goodbye. At the peak our TypeScript monorepo was ~2.5 million lines of code (excluding comments, node_modules, etc.). This is not a post hating on TypeScript though.
Motion would likely not have survived until today without it. We have pivoted 20x times 😂.
Hiring former YC founder for your startup? That’s awesome.
Hiring former YC Partner for your startup? That’s unheard of.
Today, we welcome Ashu - former YC Visiting Partner and Founder/CEO of Make School which he brought to 8 figure revenue and raised $40m for - as a fulltime team member of Motion’s product & engineering org, where he’ll be leading some exciting new agentic products.
When we were at $15M ARR, Michael Seibel told us we were f*cked. No path to $1B ARR. We weren't delivering enough value to customers. Motion was just a “very nice to have.” Here’s what we did about it.
My son was born.
And an hour later, I was debugging code for a customer demo… in the In-N-Out drive-through line (my wife's favorite).
This isn’t normal. But I knew Motion wasn't normal going in. This is the story of how I became a Co-Founder at Motion.
Congrats to @useMotion on their $60M fundraise at $550m!
I still remember early in the batch when @harryqi666 told me he gave up his seven-figure quant job at 23 to start Motion. It wasn't a tough decision for him, he was just betting on himself.
If you’re a founder, I’m begging you - take more pictures
Of the big wins. The little moments. Your first all hands. That first customer closing.
Startups are a road trip. Enjoy the ride.
Congrats to the @useMotion team on their $60M in funding at a $550M valuation!
Motion is building the first agentic work suite for SMBs. Imagine the Microsoft suite, if it were built today with AI Agents natively embedded.

I remember that Christmas Eve vividly. Amazing to look back and see how far we've come. So proud of the team we've assembled and the all the customers we've helped. So much still to do, so exciting!!
On Christmas Eve 2019, Michael Seibel, then CEO of YC, called me: “You might not be cut out to be a founder.” He was right. We had pivoted 20 times. I thought I could always return to my 7-figure quant job. That night, I realized: you commit or you quit. Fast forward: Motion raised $60M at $550M. Michael is now a personal investor.
