Digital journalist Moied Alam, from Jokihat in Bihar’s Araria district, has reportedly been sent to jail after raising the issue of fertiliser allegedly being sold for ₹400 despite its stated price of ₹266. The case has taken another turn after businessman Piyush Aggarwal accused Alam of demanding ₹12 lakh in extortion money and threatening him. Aggarwal alleged that Alam visited his shop on October 12, made a video and circulated it on social media to damage his reputation. Forbesganj police station in-charge Manoj Kumar confirmed that an FIR had been registered on Aggarwal’s complaint and said the matter was under investigation.

Bihar—Dilshad Ansari Dies in Police Custody

25-year-old Dilshad Ansari died while in police custody in Bihar’s West Champaran district. Arrested in an NDPS case, his death has triggered allegations of police assault, with his family demanding a high-level inquiry.
Police claim that Ansari was arrested from the Banuchhapar police station area and was being taken to Sahodra police station when he jumped from a moving police vehicle, suffering grievous injuries. He was first taken to the subdivisional hospital in Narkatiaganj and later referred to GMCH Bettiah, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
However, his family has rejected the police version. His father, Akhbar Ansari, alleged, “My son died after he was hit hard on his head by police.”
His wife, Nagma Khatoon, said police took Dilshad from their home during a raid around 2 am on Monday, assuring the family that he would be released after questioning by morning. Later, the family received a call from Banuchhapar police station asking them to come to GMCH Bettiah, saying he had fallen ill. “When we came here, we found him lying dead in the hospital,” she said.
Following the incident, six police personnel attached to Sahodra police station have been suspended. They include sub-inspectors Ravi Shankar Kumar and Arun Kumar, along with constables Saudagar Kumar Yadav, Raj Kumar Rishi, Kundan Kumar and Suman Kumar.
The family is demanding a high-level inquiry into the circumstances of Dilshad’s death and strict action against those responsible.
