European Union Ambassador Jan Sadek has paid a glowing tribute to the Hoima City Stadium complex as a world-class facility.
Leading a group of ambassadors of EU member states - dubbed Team Europe - on a mission to Hoima City and the Albertine Region, the EU ambassador said this at a reception dinner they hosted in the VIP section at the Hoima City Stadium last night.
The ambassadors of France, the Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden, Austria and Ireland were either present in person or represented at the dinner for which they invited the cultural, political and admistrative leadership of the Bunyoro sub region, community representatives, civil society, oil and gas operators including TotalEnergies, other private sectors, the media, and the National Council of Sports (NCS) who were this time round guests in their own home.
'Team Europe' goes on this kind of mission in the different parts of Uganda annually, and this year as they celebrate the Golden Jubilee (50 years since opening the EU office in Kampala in 1976), they have visited the Albertine Region to get insight into major infrastructure investments including Hoima City Stadium, emerging business and employment opportunities, and the broader contribution of the ongoing developments in this rapidly evolving oil-rich region to local and national economic development.
In that light they visited, among others, the airport, refinery and oil wells, the King's palace, and also participated in sporting activities in the stadium as well as the indoor arena, the quality of which facilities left them very impressed.
NCS Chairman Ambrose Tasobya assured them of government's commitment to completing all the ongoing infrastructure projects as legacy projects to serve AFCON 2027 and beyond into future sports development, as well as the prioritisation of partnerships with the EU, the private players, and the communities for wider economic development of the country.

This is a historical background as to why everyone hates Arsenalโฆ
For the first time in my life, I know why Arsenal is always hated by all.
I will forever be an Arsenal fan โค๏ธ
Every Arsenal fan should watch this video
One of the most effective tools of oppressive systems in Africa, including in bodies like CAF, is delayed justice.
You are told: donโt protest, follow procedure, file a complaint.
But by the time the process ends, the outcome has already taken effect.
We see it in football.
During the Senegal incident, some people are arguing teams should play on and complain later.
Yet trophies are awarded before any ruling arrives, and there is no replay.
We see the same pattern in politics and elections.
Go to court, people are told.
By the time judgment comes, power has already settled.
This is not a failure of systems.
It is how corrupt systems protect themselves .
Delayed justice creates the appearance of order while denying real accountability.
Many Africans have seen this pattern play out.
You probably have an example.
