At Parliament w/ @Keir_Starmer today! Thank you Sir Keir for supporting the @MedToUkraine Campaign💊🇺🇦 Led by @the_pda & driven by pharmacists to deliver essential life-saving medicines to #Ukraine & where they are needed most. Info👉🏻 https://t.co/xq4Xpzrz8f #MedicinesToUkraine
#Hantavirus update: the number of cases reported to @WHO remains 13, including three deaths. No new deaths have been reported for more than a month.
We are in close contact with the governments where isolated patients are receiving treatment or where passengers and crew members are being quarantined.
6 healthcare facilities in Kyiv were damaged during last night’s attack in Ukraine, affecting the delivery of essential health services. Following a rapid needs assessment, WHO began distributing trauma, emergency, surgical kits to support health workers providing lifesaving care
#Ebola: To bring the situation under even partial control, there must be immediate expansion of testing capacity.
As the Director General of WHO visits #DRC, we call for urgent action to respond to the needs.

Even without vaccines or specific therapeutics, people can survive #Ebola disease caused by the Bundibugyo virus if they receive timely healthcare and seek treatment as soon as symptoms appear.
@WHO and many partners are supporting the establishment of Ebola treatment centres in #DRC. Yesterday, I witnessed the opening of one such centre in Bunia, which will ensure that patients in the community can access lifesaving care.
Together, we will stop this outbreak.
Putin is behaving with the desperate barbarism of a man who is going to lose. He will never conquer Ukraine. He needs to admit that to himself - and save many thousands of lives on both sides.
Residents in a town at the centre of an Ebola outbreak in eastern DR Congo have set fire to a treatment facility over burial disputes, underscoring deep mistrust and anger around the response to the virus.

Today's publication of the @covidinquiryuk report into Covid's impact on the NHS comes as bittersweet relief for those of us who worked in those often hellish times.
Finally - thankfully - someone in authority has called out the incessant lies from @MattHancock & @BorisJohnson that the NHS “coped” during 2020/21 & “was not overwhelmed”.
No, says Lady Hallet. Covid’s impact was “devastating”. Furthermore: “On a number of occasions, [the NHS] teetered on the brink of collapse and only coped thanks to the almost superhuman efforts of healthcare workers and all the staff who support them.”
How those lies incensed us at the time.
Disgusting, dangerous lies that encouraged the public to believe that ventilators were never rationed, that patients never died at home because there weren’t enough ambulances to reach them, that staff never collapsed and left the NHS for good, broken by the brutality of those Covid wards.
“There was clearly overwhelm,” says Lady Hallet. “Whatever word one chooses, healthcare systems were placed under intolerable strain. Patients could not be admitted to hospital and, in particular, into intensive care units. This continued for wave after wave of the virus.”
Shame on you, Johnson & Hancock, for spouting endless self-serving populist lies while decent NHS doctors and nurses did their level best for patients - as did so many other magnificent key workers. We owe them all a debt of gratitude.
I invite everyone to pray for the war-torn people of Ukraine and for all those who suffer due to this war and every conflict in the world, so that the long-awaited gift of peace may shine in our days.
NEW: Trump's coup is almost complete. And the attack on the press is a central piece of it. Bezos's gutting of the Washington Post cannot be allowed to be just another blip in the news cycle.
We are all going to have to fight for a free and independent press.

Not unbelievable, sadly, but deeply connected. My entire body of work for a decade has been intersection of tech bro impunity, foreign interference & political capture. Attacks on the press are central to this. It’s why they came for me & why I know fighting back is so KEY.
Let us #PrayTogether for our brothers and sisters in #Ukraine, severely tested by the consequences of renewed attacks against energy infrastructure. I express my gratitude for solidarity initiatives promoted by the Catholic dioceses of Poland and other countries, which help the population endure this period of intense cold.
Carole nails this. Starmer must explain why and how Mandelson manipulated his government to give huge contracts to Palantir from almost every Ministry. They should be cancelled.
It is shocking how little coverage there is of an unfolding humanitarian catastrophe in Ukraine due to Russia's destruction of its energy grid. It's -20C outside and half of the country experienced a total blackout today. Metro trains stopped operating in Kyiv and Kharkiv today. Rolling blackouts have been ongoing for weeks, often with no heating and running water inside people's houses. People get sick and die because of this. In the meantime, Russians laugh and call for more strikes to punish Ukraine for its unwillingness to surrender. These are strikes affecting millions of civilians amid the harshest winter in decades. These are crimes against humanity that Russia is confident it will get away with. We cannot let that happen
