REPORT: Igbo youths detained at Wawa military barracks in Niger State are forced to plead guilty amid prolonged detention:

In a 31-page released by the United States-based Ekwenche Research Institute and the International Society for Civil Liberties and Rule of Law (Intersociety), it has emerged that: “At least eight Igbo Land Judeo-Christian abductees bundled to WAWA Military Cantonment in faraway Niger State in North-Central Nigeria since 2021 were recently tried under controversial circumstances including being coerced to plead guilty.”

The detainees are identified as; Chidiebere Luke Echefu, Chidiebere Christian Ugwu, Nnabuike Romanus Erikeigwe, Ferdinand Uchenna Ede, Azoribe Samuel Onu, Ndukwe Kalu Iroha, Okolo Godwin Ejiofor and Abel Onyekachi Michael, while also highlighting the case of Ozioma Elizabeth Onyeaka, who it said remained on trial after more than five years in detention.

The organisations alleged that the cases reflected a broader pattern in which South-East civilians accused of being IPOB members or supporters were transferred to detention facilities in northern Nigeria and subjected to proceedings without adequate access to lawyers, families or independent witnesses.

The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has said the Nigerian government owes its leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, a total of N9.5 billion damages.

Spokesman of the group, Emma Powerful, disclosed this in a clarification issued by the 4th administration of the IPOB Directorate of State, DOS, on Thursday.

The group highlighted what it described as the unassailable record of Kanu’s Special Counsel, Aloy Ejimakor. According to IPOB, Ejimakor has scored a series of landmark victories at both domestic and international levels in the pursuit of justice and Kanu’s freedom.

“These judgments were brazenly disobeyed by the Nigerian state. All remain subsisting and unoverturned. The Federal Republic of Nigeria, the DSS, the Nigerian Army, and the South-East Governors’ Forum stand thoroughly defeated in multiple courts and cumulatively owe Mazi Nnamdi Kanu a whopping ₦9.5 billion in damages.

“No other lawyer who previously represented our leader and IPOB has ever attained this level of success,” IPOB said.

It listed the subsisting judgments won by Kanu and IPOB against the Nigerian Government with Ejimakor’s direct input as follows:

“January 2022 – Abia State High Court, Umuahia: The first victory declaring that MNK did not jump bail, arising from the September 2017 military invasion of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s ancestral home during Operation Python Dance. The court awarded ₦1 billion in damages, ordered an apology, and recommended a political solution.

“October 2022 – Federal High Court, Umuahia Division: The first High Court declaration that MNK is a victim of unlawful Extraordinary Rendition. The court awarded ₦500 million damages, declared his detention illegal, ordered the Federal Government to restore him to pre-rendition status, apologize, and stop his prosecution.

“The extraordinary rendition argument that won the acquittal-equivalent discharge of 13 October 2022 was crafted by Barrister Aloy Ejimakor and no other – a fact our leader Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has confirmed on numerous occasions during visitation.

“October 2023 – State High Court, Enugu declared the 2017 proscription of IPOB as a terrorist group unconstitutional, ordered the South-East Governors’ Forum and Federal Government to pay ₦8 billion compensation to MNK/IPOB, and affirmed that self-determination is not a crime. This remains a landmark victory against the illegal proscription of our movement.”

It added that Ejimakor successfully engaged the African Union Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights (March 2018 Decision) which condemned the arrest/trial of Kanu and IPOB members, the proscription of IPOB, and Operation Python Dance as violations of the African Charter to which Nigeria is a signatory. The Commission directed late President Muhammadu Buhari to stop further arrests and prosecutions and to reverse the proscription.

IPOB added that Ejimakor also drove multiple United Nations interventions, including the 2017–2018 Special Rapporteur on Extrajudicial, Summary or Arbitrary Detentions ruling against Nigeria’s mistreatment of IPOB and Python Dance; the July 2022 United Nations Human Rights Council extraordinary rendition victory directing MNK’s release and compensation while declaring IPOB’s activity as self-determination and not crime.

It noted that Ejimakor was also involved in the October 2022 additional UN Special Rapporteur findings confirming arbitrary detention and rendition; and the May 2021 UN Special Rapporteur decision declaring the proscription of IPOB as discrimination against Igbo people.

IPOB also listed the June 2025 Kenya High Court declaration that Kanu’s abduction and forcible rendition were unlawful and unconstitutional.

IPOB declared that no other attorney, either living or dead, has won more landmark cases in the service of Kanu and IPOB than Ejimakor.

In 1974, the World Bank & IMF borrowed $240m & $120m, respectively from Nigeria. Reportedly, the loan came from the funds set aside for the post-war reconstruction of Eastern Nigeria (Biafra). Whether the money was replaced after the loan repayment remains a mystery to this day.

Below is a transcript of notes MAZI NNAMDI KANU had made when he held that crucial meeting with Southeast Governors in August 2017. A meeting that could’ve positively changed the course of history if Buhari had not resorted to the infamous Python Dance. Now, read on:

“I asked them for a seaport in Igbo land. They said no, but they could pay my family ₦300 million every month.

They are not after me, Nnamdi Kanu. They are after you—the ordinary Igbo people. I just happen to be standing in their way.

I also asked for an international airport and a seaport in Igbo land. They said that if those were granted, the region would develop beyond Lagos. Instead, they offered me an additional ₦5 billion to keep quiet.

I asked for equal rights and for Nigeria to treat the Igbo people fairly. They said they would ‘try their best.’ Trying your best to see my people as equal citizens of one Nigeria is laughable.

I then said, ‘Fine, let my people have a referendum so they can choose whether to stay or leave.’

The freedom of my people is the reason I was born.”

After grand promises, saber rattling, and a couple of pinprick strikes, it appears President Trump is preparing to close the book on Nigeria and declare victory.

Not only is "victory" shockingly untrue — the violence has only gotten worse — closing this book now may go down in history as one of the most catastrophic and bloody decisions an American president has ever made.

Here is what closing the book could look like.

Mass roundups of dissenters and resisters. Execution, not arrest. Slaughter at a scale the last sixteen years have only previewed. Land and wealth seized outright. The doors thrown wide open for Fulani militias, global jihadist networks, and Chinese extractors to move in unrestrained — a human, environmental, and security catastrophe with no precedent in modern Africa.

I believe that is what's coming.

We've run this experiment before. In December 2020, Trump designated Nigeria a Country of Particular Concern. In November 2021, Biden's State Department quietly removed it — no substantive explanation. In the first full year after, 5,014 Christians were killed for their faith, up from 4,650. The violence that had been contained to the northeast and Middle Belt spread south into states that had never seen it. Displacement climbed into the millions. Church and property destruction mounted past 19,000. The pressure came off, the killing held at world-leading levels, the destruction and displacement grew, and the regime paid no price.

Think I'm being alarmist? Consider this: the same ruling elite — same caliphate, same bloodline, same throne, same prophetic mandate — who presided over the Biafran War are still in power. During that 30-month conflict — with full British backing and the U.S. turning a blind eye — they strategically and intentionally starved to death some 3 million Igbo Christians who refused to submit to their Caliphate. And the world did nothing.

That is what removing Western pressure produces. This time it's bigger than a CPC designation. Trump is a singular, historically consequential figure with the power to do something real and lasting. If he turns away now, it isn't only a missed opportunity. It's the green light the Caliphate has been waiting for to stop pretending.

The army is already assembled. As many as 15 million Almajiri boys raised on dan Fodio's doctrine from childhood. As many as 12 million sitting in displacement camps the government denies exist, with up to a 50-60 percent radicalization rate. Thousands of foreign fighters armed with Libyan weapons from the Arab Spring collapse, hardened across the Sahel. A self-financing jihad economy worth more than $3 billion a year. A government curriculum architect waging what he himself calls "intellectual jihad" against 50 million schoolchildren. A Turkish paramilitary group — founded to prepare for the Mahdi, recruiting from active ISIS fighters — now training Nigeria's special forces. This is a fully assembled force sitting on Africa's largest population and a trillion dollars in mineral reserves, waiting for a green light.

Starting in 1804, Fulani leader Dan Fodio built the Sokoto Caliphate as a launchpad for the prophesied Mahdi — a purified platform held ready for his final, global jihad. That mission has been maintained for 222 years by an unbroken bloodline on the same throne today, taught in madrasses as pure gospel. They are not waiting for Western approval. They are waiting for Western restraint to end. And they no longer need our approval anyway — they've pivoted to China, who pays in cash and weapons instead of lectures.

They've already shown their hand on free speech. In June 2021, the Buhari government suspended Twitter nationwide for seven months after Twitter deleted one of Buhari's which threatened to once again unleash the violence of the Biafran war. Nigerians who accessed Twitter via VPN faced criminal prosecution. Last April, the Sultan of Sokoto stood before the Northern Traditional Rulers' Council and called social media "a terrorist organization," directing security agencies to treat it accordingly. They will once again shut off the information lifeline to the world — before the next phase begins.

Credible reports indicate simply saying "genocide" in Nigeria will be considered sedition. This is a capital offense. And it will be brutally enforced — look for wholesale round-ups and executions — the moment the West looks away.

This has happened before. In 2020, Nigerian forces gunned down young #EndSARS protesters in the street. More than three million Igbo Christians were slaughtered in Biafra while the world did nothing. Some 185,000 Christians and non-jihadi Muslims slaughtered since 2009. The infrastructure for the final round is already built: they control the classrooms, the military, the government, and the media.

The false performance of democratic restraint holds only because the world is still watching, even half-heartedly. The moment they conclude no one is watching anymore — that the one man on earth who has potential to stop them has turned away — the mask drops. The Quran, in their own historic phrase, finally gets "dipped in the Atlantic" — not as metaphor, but as mission.

It will not look like the slow bleed of the last sixteen years. It will look like Biafra, with modern weapons, a larger population, foreign fighters already in place, social media shut down, and a government that controls every lever needed to make it fast.

Who stops them then? Not the United States, if it's already closed the book. Not the United Nations — already compromised, already covering for the killers. Not a future administration cut from the Obama mold, which spent eight years quietly unleashing genocidal maniacs to enable the Caliphate's rise.

It appears nobody is coming to help. Only the good people of Nigeria can rise up and stop it now.

This is the moment.
