This combination led to a predictive model for cell viability, paving the way for enhanced bioreactor designs and cell culture protocols.
Thrilled to have led a fantastic team at @BU_Tweets, @biogen, and @Amgen for this interdisciplinary work!

In our study, we delved into how bubble formation in bioreactors impacts mammalian cells, especially CHO cells used in biotech for therapeutic production. We combined microfluidic experiments with computational fluid dynamics to study the stressors from bubble pinch-offs.
What an incredible honor, especially considering all of the award winners to come before me. Grateful to my mentors, lab members, collaborators, family and friends.
PRFluids Editors' Suggestion: An expanding neck forms when two bubbles merge in water. Turns out that the early-time dynamics of coalescence are not altered by the presence of polymers. That happens later! See the new paper by Oratis et al. @ https://t.co/3oObpEqMy4. #bubbles
PRFluids Editors' Suggestion: A glass of fizzy drink is a complex laboratory for two-phase flows. In your next glass, watch for those tiny rising bubbles. Here, @ZenitLab and Co. show why champagne has stable “bubble chains” but other bubbly drinks do not. https://t.co/FNInAjxRdV
Thank you to @BU_Tweets The Brink for the excellent coverage of our recent paper on jet drop enrichment and explaining the science behind it!

Happy to share our recent work on contaminated bubble bursting just published @NaturePhysics, showing oil-coated bubble bursting enhance aerosol formation and transmission by producing jets that are smaller and faster than those formed by pristine bubbles.https://t.co/Q6f1NYMmRp
Ever wonder what happens when granular matter sticks to thin sheets?
As the grains pack and jam and clump the sheet warps and crumples, leading to three distinct regimes.
