@WandileSihlobo Wandile I agree. However, who is going to be buying all this? Are you meaning Green coffee importers in SA can take on this difference in volume?
quick shout-out to @StatsSA
we're pretty fortunate in SA to access high quality statistical data based with large sampling
many countries in Africa don't report as extensively (esp economic data)
you can access other data libraries & reports here https://t.co/7e4nmefq90
South Africa has a crippling spending problem, not a revenue problem
the real demon is reckless spending, suffocating debt payments, government inefficiency, misguided capital allocation, absent accountability & crime
a country with huge potential strangled by poor leadership
@WandileSihlobo Well this problem (or fortune) depending on which side of the supply chain you are on - has been ongoing since 2021, green coffee prices are reaching new highs, we can’t control the weather but it is really a combination of increased demand vs low output that’s brought us here.
Congratulations! Great to see the country’s leadership gradually reflecting the future & interests of the young people of South Africa. 🤝🏾

Excited to share that I've been assigned to the parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Trade, Industry & Competition! I look forward to playing a role in fostering sustainable economic growth, promoting open trade, driving innovation, and holding the executive to account🇿🇦
With Portfolios such as Trade & Industry going to Parks Tau with his previous stint in Johannesburg, it would seem @CyrilRamaphosa is leaving key contributors towards economic growth for South Africa up to chance really.
From 2009 to 2023, SA econ grew by 1.2% a year. It was 1.9% a year under JZ and 0.5% a year under CR. By comparison 155 emerging and developing economies grew by 4.4% a year. Emerging and developing Asia (30 countries) grew by 6.3%. Why do we accept such a shocking performance?
A full scale war has broken out between all gangs on the Cape Flats and it spread to rest of SA, let me put in in context, more people are being injured & dying here than both Palestinian/Israeli & Russian/Ukrainian war put together.
Yesterday was a remarkable day for Kriel Power Station, as all units were operational after a long period. Kudos to the Power Station General Manager, Ms Morongwe Raphasha, and her team for their excellent work, which has contributed to the improved energy availability factor. 🙌🏾
Let’s not forget what elections are about. If the economy was growing at 10%, if unemployment was less than 5%, if the lights were on all the time, if racial inequality didn’t exist, if RSA was free of crime, this political drama wouldn’t exist. #electionResult2024
For the sake of our country, we need brave Editors who will apply the highest principles of journalism. You cannot platform someone telling lies and inciting violence. It's not newsworthy. It's dangerous.
The immediate focus should be doing whatever is possible to revive the economy and create jobs.
Any arrangement that will not give us more jobs in the next 5 years will lead to more instability in the long run.
People want jobs. They need a govt that will deliver jobs.
South African PR firms will really hook up influencers with gigs to destabilize democracy for a quick buck, the Bell Pottinger model has only expanded over the last few years.
Capital investment must follow returns not race. The notion that South Africans must subjugate themselves to ‘white supervision’ to avoid capital flight must be rejected. RSA must draw a line in the sand. Capital with racist intentions not welcome. #Elections2024
