Product of progressive public policy; raised by public libraries and public education that produced a passion for politics. and apparently alliteration
Reading a tweet is a bit like downloading an (attacker-controlled) executable that you instantly run on your brain. Each one elicits emotions, suggests knowledge, nudges world-view.
In the future it might feel surprising that we allowed direct, untrusted information to brain.
@bloom_lion@FlicksandChill She only says “oh fuck” once he starts the hypothetical admitting he’s an alien, not the Hogwarts or Obama giveaways.
She’s reacting to him going off script and screwing up their plan, not suddenly realizing Hal was right.
Existential hope is one of my favorite ideas. Mitigating risk is important but if we don't have a vision for something better we will steer into our fear.
Any sort of electric heater that people have should be a computer. That is the obvious way to solve this issue. Due to the constraints of thermodynamics, simply heating up resistance to produce heat is the worst possible way to use electric energy. and much cleaner than just burning gas somewhere.
Chamath fed Dario Amodei's own essays into Claude and asked for a psychological profile. What came back should be required reading for every investor in frontier AI.
The model identified a pattern.
Dario distrusts other labs. He distrusts authoritarian states. He distrusts markets to distribute the gains fairly. He distrusts institutions to move fast enough. And after Mythos, he distrusts the government to wield power transparently. That is a very long list of untrustworthy actors.
The list of trustworthy ones is conspicuously short. And it has a suspicious tendency to resolve toward people who reason the way he does, operating under rules he helped design.
Claude named it precisely. Not megalomania. Epistemic exceptionalism.
The quiet, defensible conviction that disagreement is always downstream of error. That when your safety framework requires someone to hold the keys and your analysis keeps concluding every other key holder cannot be trusted, you have built a machine that outputs the same answer no matter what you feed it.
The tell was a single word.
When the Mythos situation collapsed, Anthropic called it a misunderstanding. That word choice under pressure assumes that if everyone simply understood correctly, they would agree with him.
Sacks put it simply on the pod. They believe AI is super dangerous and only they are virtuous enough to control it.
That is not a safety framework.
That is a monopoly with a philosophy attached.

I thought the 2007-08 Knicks were a title contender.
They went 23-59.
always thought harry potter series was unrealistically pessimistic about how few characters would care to learn more how the magic actually works & then u watch people interact with llms
Fable is an early look into the bureaucratic hell Anthropic wants to create in AI.
3 month delay to get released.
Randomly routed in biology, cyber and distillation.
Weird sociopathic quiet harmfulness in ml topics.
Goes away on June 22.
Have to apply to get access to 'real' Mythos.
What an exhausting tiresome dystopia.
