Pope Leo XIV has appointed @EWTN's head of news, Maria Montserrat Alvarado, as prefect of the Dicastery for Communication, replacing Paolo Ruffini who has served as prefect since 2018. Alvarado will become the first laywoman to head a dicastery of the Roman Curia. She will take up her new position on November 1.
“The ignorance surrounding the SSPX …”
I keep seeing this line being used by their sympathizers. Look, fellas, we aren’t ignorant of the issues. We’ve just rejected your arguments on any number of grounds, just like, you know, Holy Mother Church has, just like Peter has.
California fast food is taking another major hit: A large Carl’s Jr. operator has filed for bankruptcy and is putting nearly 50 locations across the state up for sale.
The reason? Gavin Newsom’s $20 minimum wage law that jacked up labor costs and made it impossible to keep the doors open profitably.
This means lost jobs, shuttered restaurants, and higher prices for customers. Progressive policies in action — driving businesses out and hurting the very workers they claim to help.
This AI video is a representation of what a minimum wage too high looks like.
Do you think progressives will ever learn?

I loathed going to restaurants when my children were little still mostly because of what you describe should happen. I mean, the point of dinner out was to lessen the load, not add to it. We did on occasion at my in-laws’ wishes. Our kid wrangling was saved for Mass and other necessary occasions. Somehow they managed to eat at restaurants without swing on the chandeliers. 🤣
I miss a lot of things about my kids’ childhoods but youth sports isn’t one of them. There are crazy people out there. Watching future county inmates being formed in real time was awful.
An illegal pitch at a youth baseball game in Kansas City over Memorial Day weekend has resulted in a lifetime suspension for the coach and a five-year suspension for his son, the pitcher.

@KimWexlerMAJD@SDegidon@KalchikRev The Church is not corrupt. Some of her members certainly are. Kind of reminds me of, let me think, the Apostles. You don’t leave Jesus because of Judas.
INTERNAL NATIONALS EMAIL: O'Keefe Media Group has just obtained a leaked internal email from a Nationals Account Executive that was sent to an upset Washington Nationals season ticket holder.
In the email the Nationals executive, McKenzie Jordahl sends a response about our hidden camera video of Director Sean Hudson:
"The Nationals are aware of comments made by an employee which were recorded without the employee's knowledge and disseminated without his permission. The statements are not only factually incorrect, but do not reflect the views, opinions or actions of the Washington Nationals. The Nationals are dedicated to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for our players, fans and staff, and we vehemently deny any allegations to the contrary."
This marks the FIRST time the @Nationals have issued a response about undercover investigation.
The Nationals still have yet been able to issue a public response to angry fans of their team and beyond.
In 1413, a Saint was slapped in the face by her own Guardian Angel.
Hard enough that the sound echoed across the room.
Hard enough that the mark stayed on her cheek for days.
And other people heard it happen.
Her name is St. Frances of Rome. The angel was real. The blow was real. And what she did to deserve it should make every one of us stop and think.
Here's the story.
Frances was given an extraordinary gift — she could see her guardian angel.
Not feel him. Not sense him.
See him, standing beside her, for decades.
But this angel was no decoration.
He watched her every move. Day and night. Every fault, every slip, every imperfection — noticed instantly.
And when she fell short, she felt the blow of a mysterious hand. A correction. A warning. Audible to everyone nearby.
So what did she do to earn the worst of it?
She didn't blaspheme.
She didn't steal.
She didn't lie.
She got stuck in a frivolous conversation.
That's it.
Out of human respect — not wanting to seem rude — she let a useless, gossipy conversation drag on when she should have walked away.
And the blow came so hard she carried the mark for days.
Now here's why this matters for you.
We've been sold a soft, sentimental lie about guardian angels.
We picture chubby little babies with tiny wings. Cute. Harmless. Decorative.
That is not what your guardian angel is.
Your guardian angel is an ancient, brilliant warrior who does combat with Satan himself. A soldier. A general. A being so intelligent the lowest of them outranks the smartest human who ever lived.
And he was not assigned to you to make you feel good.
He was assigned to get you to heaven.
Think about it like a father.
If I let my child eat all the cake he wanted, skip every responsibility, and chase every comfort — and I called that "love" — I wouldn't be a good father.
I'd be an abusive one.
Real love corrects. Real love says no. Real love sometimes stings.
Your guardian angel loves you with that kind of love.
He prefers to lead you gently. To whisper. To nudge.
But when you're throwing away your time — the precious, irreplaceable time God gave you to become a saint — the most merciful thing he can do is wake you up.
Even if it stings.
St. Frances wasted a few minutes on idle talk.
How many hours have we thrown away this week?
Scrolling. Numbing. Avoiding. Filling the silence with noise.
Your guardian angel is standing right beside you as you read this.
He sees all of it.
And he is begging — every single day — for permission to lead you higher.
So talk to him today.
Thank him. Ask him. Beg him to correct you, even when it stings.
Because he is not your imaginary friend.
He is your fiercest ally in the battle for your soul.
And he wants you in heaven more than you want it yourself.
Send this to a friend who needs to hear it.
It doesn’t matter if your teacher/school is great. There are 30ish other kids in the class and some are bound to be tragic. I was reminded of that the other day when I went to the zoo. Tragic.
In August 2014, a local news reporter at the Wayne County Fair in Pennsylvania pulled aside a small boy who had just come off one of the rides.
His name was Noah Ritter, he was five years old, and he was there with his grandfather, visiting from Wilkes-Barre.
The reporter asked him what he thought of the ride.
Noah did not really answer.
Instead, he launched into a wandering, breathless monologue built almost entirely around one word: apparently.
"It was great, and apparently I've never been on live television before," he said.
He explained that he does not usually watch the news "because I'm a kid," and that his grandpa hands him the remote after they watch the Powerball drawing.
The reporter tried to steer him back to the ride.
Noah obliged, briefly. "Wow, it was great." Why? "Because apparently you're spinning around and apparently every time you get dizzy. Yeah, that's all you do is get dizzy."
He kept returning to the fact that he was on television.
"I've never ever been on live television. I never ever be on live television." He mentioned the super slide too, and how going down it had scared him half to death.
The reporter, by this point clearly aware she had something unusual on her hands, asked for his name and turned to his grandfather to spell it out. R-I-T-T-E-R. From Wilkes-Barre.
"All right, buddy. Good stuff."
The clip ran on WNEP, a local station serving northeastern Pennsylvania. Within days it had spread across the internet.
Noah became known as the "apparently kid," and the interview turned into one of the defining viral local news moments of that year.
🚨 BREAKING: A principal in Pennsylvania just drew a line and didn’t blink.
Students tried to stage an anti ICE walkout during school hours.
Daniel Weber walked straight outside and shut it down.
His message was simple. You want to protest on school time? You’re suspended.
That’s called leadership.
Schools are for learning. Not activist field trips. Not political theater.
Parents send their kids to get an education, not to join street rallies in the middle of the day.
More backbone like this.
Less chaos.
More adults in the room. 🇺🇸

What an amazing turnout for the Long Beach Pride Parade
The city was expecting 10s of thousands for visitors
The parade starts in 25 minutes and there are only 2 tents along the path. No one is lining the streets. There are maybe 10 people in total
In the past the streets were lined with people. It turns out nobody cares anymore without the constant propaganda
The Pride festival was cancelled yesterday and now nobody showed up to the parade
