The Odyssey is In Media Res, the Bronze Age audience of 1200B.C. who Homer is telling the story have known-information of not only the characters but also an inherent understanding of honor (timé) and glory (kleos). This 3 hr film is a big budget blockbuster intended for the largest possible audience, causality is their known-information and the best place to begin to can serve that audience. What you’re asking for is niche to those of us who enjoy Homer. A series would be the best approach to execute what you desire.

@JamesLucasIT And here we are with a sixth film about Odysseus who was also a great man. He didn’t seek glory he simply desired to go home and take care of his family. This is also an important aspect of western civilization and could be argued even more important than seeking glory.
