@exfatloss@Only1MoreThing@southernyankee@sudas1891 @AnouarElHaji Ketosis is just a marker of high rates of fat oxidation in a low glucose context. So it can definitely be correlated with fat loss, but neither necessary nor sufficient.
@exfatloss@bobdones0@KetoCarnivore@sudas1891@CarnivoreAugust I’ll order me some tallow and will give it a 2nd try.
Like in 2024, also this time I’ll stop eating it when feeling queasy.
Unlike in 2024, this time I won’t feel bad for not being able to eat much tallow (queasiness comes on pretty pretty soon, ~ after a tablespoon).
@Only1MoreThing@MikeCarrato@exfatloss@KetoCarnivore For ancestral fit, ruminant fats edge out dairy fats in my view. higher stearic, slower stable delivery. Dairy is great if tolerated as I mentioned due to flavor, convenience (two reasons for me) but tallow/suet is the gold standard when prioritizing max stearic
@exfatloss@bobdones0@KetoCarnivore@sudas1891@CarnivoreAugust When eating fat, most people’s "fat intake before queasiness" continuum is:
With tallow < butter < cream
If lightly queasy = enough fat,
I can’t help concluding that w/ tallow I need far fewer g of fat to feel "I couldn’t possibly eat more" satiated than I do with cream.

@KetoCarnivore Amber, what’s your take on the claim (I hear often bc I drink little) that as we age, we must drink (and eat) past our natural cues because our thirst (and hunger) instincts fade? Thank you.
@ambimorph@ambimorph, I have decided I will not be using Anki word cards.
Can you share your opinion on the different purposes of full-sentence cards vs cloze-deletions sentences cards?
Thank you.
@sudas1891@MikeCarrato@exfatloss@KetoCarnivore What’s dairy fat’s pathway?
I think Peter D says* that even though dairy fat is higher % saturated fat, it is not quite as ideal/beneficial as ruminant body fat bc the stearic content in dairy fat is lower.
*Forgive me if I’m misremembering.
@MikeCarrato@exfatloss@KetoCarnivore@Only1MoreThing Stick to ruminant fats and dairy fats if tolerated. Ruminant fats follow the normal chylomicron pathway for slower, more stable distribution. Better ancestral fit,
@exfatloss@KetoCarnivore@sudas1891@MikeCarrato That’s fair. I do wonder if the metabolic ‘discretionary income’ from eating to the higher end actually gets spent on useful/enjoyable stuff, or if it just dissipates as heat.
@KetoCarnivore@exfatloss@sudas1891@MikeCarrato Amber, thank you for all your thoughts on the energostatic model.
I get the concern about chronically low RMR from running undersatiated.
But do you see the RMR from can’t-possibly-eat-more satiation carrying meaningfully greater benefit than the RMR from satisfied satiation?
@KetoCarnivore@exfatloss@sudas1891@MikeCarrato Thank you.
I thought lean mass preservation required also adequate energy intake (so the body didn’t use lean mass for energy).
And I was wondering if the lower end of the satiation window (as soon as satisfied) meets the calorie requirement for lean mass preservation.
@KetoCarnivore@exfatloss@sudas1891@MikeCarrato@KetoCarnivore, do you suspect that eating to the Low end the satiation window (or somewhat past it) spares lean body mass (assuming enough protein intake)?
Or is lean body mass preserved only if eating to the High end of the satiation window?
Thank you.
@Only1MoreThing@exfatloss@sudas1891@MikeCarrato Low end: stopping as soon as satisfied even if you feel you could eat more (promoted by Intuitive Eating)
High end: stopping when you feel you couldn't possibly eat more (promoted by original Carnivore Diet).
@Only1MoreThing I actually don't use Anki much for completely new to me languages. I use a combination of Duo and Pimsleur. I DID download an Icelandic deck recently though—I had been thinking about going to Iceland to try to see the eclipse this year, but later changed my mind.
@ambimorph Branching the conversation in order to maintain a separate thread on anki cards.
@ambimorph, your anki cards for learning idioms are for an intermediate if not advanced stage.
What are your less advanced cards like? How do you select sentences for less advanced stages?
Thanks.
In cards like the one shown, I'm familiar with all vocabulary in it, but the idiom is new to me. By practicing filling in parts of the idiom, the idea is to transfer vocabulary from passive to active.
For a language I'm less familiar with, I'd start with much smaller phrases.
