WHO CREATES THE WEALTH?
Dear E-hailing drivers,
Every day, thousands of Nigerian drivers wake up, fuel their cars, pay for maintenance, buy data, and work long hours to complete millions of trips on @Uber, @boltapp , and @inDrive.
These companies earn revenue from every trip completed by Nigerian drivers. Their headquarters are outside Nigeria:
🇺🇸 Uber – United States
🇪🇪 Bolt – Estonia
🇷🇺 inDrive – Russia
The commissions generated from trips in Nigeria become part of these companies' global revenues. While they invest in technology and operations, the value created by Nigerian drivers also supports businesses headquartered abroad.
Yet, many of the very drivers creating this wealth are still struggling to pay bills, maintain their vehicles, and provide for their families.
This is not about opposing foreign companies. They have created opportunities and transformed urban transportation. The real issue is fairness. Those who create the value deserve fair pricing, transparent commissions, better welfare, and a stronger voice in decisions that affect their livelihoods.
Most importantly, disunity is our greatest weakness. As long as drivers remain divided, the platforms will continue to hold the strongest bargaining power. But when drivers are united, they can negotiate for better conditions through lawful dialogue and collective representation.
Know your worth.
We created this industry.
It's time to stop being on the menu and start having a seat at the table.

INDRIVE: THE GREEN APP THAT IS RIDICULING THE E-HAILING INDUSTRY
*HOW INDRIVE LOW-FARE PRICING IS DESTROYING THE DIGNITY OF PROFESSIONAL DRIVERS*
Dear Lagos E-Hailing Drivers,
There comes a time when silence becomes dangerous.
Today, we must speak about one of the biggest threats to our profession: the *unsustainable fare-negotiation model promoted by inDrive*
For years, this model has encouraged riders to bargain down the value of a professional driver's service. Instead of pricing rides based on the true cost of operation, riders are invited to suggest what they are willing to pay, often at prices that do not reflect fuel costs, vehicle maintenance, depreciation, insurance, traffic, or the driver's time.
The result is a race to the bottom.
This model has gradually changed passengers' expectations. Many riders now believe they should decide the value of a driver's labour, and this mentality has spread across the e-hailing industry.
*The consequences are clear:*
▫️Drivers work longer hours for less income.
▫️Vehicle maintenance is becoming unaffordable.
▫️Many drivers are trapped in debt.
▫️Professional standards are being undermined.
▫️The entire industry is being pushed toward unsustainable pricing.
*But there is another truth we must face.*
No app can succeed with this model if drivers refuse to participate in it.
Every driver who accepts a fare that cannot sustain the business contributes knowingly or unknowingly to weakening the profession for everyone else.
A CALL TO ACTION
If we want to restore dignity to our profession, we must stop supporting pricing models that drive fares lower and lower.
I therefore appeal to every professional e-hailing driver to carefully consider where they invest their time and effort. Stand together. Support fair pricing. Reject fares that cannot sustain your business. Strengthen AUATON and work collectively for lasting industry reforms.
Our profession deserves respect.
Our labour has value.
Our time has value.
Our vehicles have value.
Let us stop competing ourselves into poverty.
Great Auaton!! United We Are Stronger.💪🏾

@AUATONLagos When we protect drivers, we strengthen the economy. When we value labour, we build sustainable mobility. We move Lagos. We power the economy. We deserve respect.
@AUATONLagos The world should hear our voices E-hailing is our profession and we can keep mute while others spread misinformation about our profession. We deserve to be heard!!!!!!
@AUATONLagos Yes e-hailing is no longer a side hustle
And the way these app companies are treating the drivers that are giving them the money is unfair.
They block drivers at will
They give low price and high commission for drivers .
They treat drivers anyhow.
Enough is enough.
E-hailing is no longer a side hustle, it’s real work. Drivers deserve fair pay, social protection, safe working conditions and strong regulation. The future of mobility begins with dignity, fairness and the implementation of ILO Convention No. 193. https://t.co/vgoXB1L7j9
