Everywhere around the world (Probably China or the US)
Ooooh speaking of Matt want to see who I met the other day while visiting the UK? It's Sky!!!
Oh and hi Brady, I'm Alice, I do Matt's China stuff. A lot of people would be able to verify I'm legit (Nicole/Alex, Numberphile hosts like Katie/James/Sophie/Ayliean/Ben/etc)
We're doing a small project to show appreciation to Matt Parker (Stand-up Maths) by making him a birthday present that will (hopefully) be filled with 2025 Parker Squares, and could use, like, a thousand more 😅 To participate, fill out (by Dec 15): https://t.co/2R4oSJyRbr
For secretivity before his birthday, feel free to share around socials (I'm hoping he's too busy to notice) as long as you don't notify him (email, text, in person, @ mention, carrier pigeon, etc) directly
(@numberphile@BradyHaran you may have an idea of how to get more?)
I wouldn’t say I’m kickass but I’m def one of them… The US is shooting itself in the feet with science funding and I’m one foot out the door at this point.
Thanks for the PhD degree from an Ivy League, I’ll bring that knowledge elsewhere~
A LOT of kickass scientists, creators, and engineers here at Open Sauce who are in the US on green cards or student visas and are making arrangements to not live in the US long-term.
Making immigration into a culture war was so goddamn dumb.
I have a defense date: May 14th at 2pm!!! 🥳
It's going to be hybrid, so if you want to come please message me for a link!!! I just don't want it too public.
If you're from one of my scicomm groups, feel free to ask Derek/Ben、Matt/Nicole/Alex、Steve/Amy/Charles.
@acapellascience Oh, you want to do this? Bilibili would be the platform to use. I can send you an email with more details sometime in the next week or so.
I can also help with anything in the process based on how much control you want. It would be a fun challenge to translate the songs...
Bespoke photovoltaics: An interdisciplinary team of @Cornell researchers is developing HelioSkin, a solar-collection fabric inspired by the biological mechanisms that enable plants to bend toward the sun. @jennysabin@CornellAAP@CornellCAS#SOLAR https://t.co/4UDetcIutO
Just dropped our new origami paper with Erik and Ryuhei on arXiv! https://t.co/y6vwTAnOvw
It's sorta my first first author paper~ I'm not the best at the technical stuff so the coauthors helped a lot with honing in the language and proofs, couldn't have done it without them!
"This thing looks familiar where have I seen it before?"
Seconds into the video: *Zachery Abel is mentioned*
Ooooof course. Demaine group strikes again! Small world...
Side note: Working out some admin-y stuff for a side project at the cleanroom these days, where I'm getting a peak behind the curtain, and holly cow... If you don't know the correct people, making a custom tiny thing can easily be >$100k even with a known procedure...
Planning on making a "How to fold the world's smallest origami" video in the future, ideas on what the steps should include? I'm thinking things that are as insane as possible yet simple and short, like "Step 1: Build a cleanroom"
@acapellascience 🤣What a thread to read right before bed... Your songs are definitely getting me through my thesis writing, I'll tell you that much.
*Puts ACS in acknowledgements* (Not even joking at this point...)
@LondMathSoc@BradyHaran@numberphile@IMAmaths Congrats Brady!!! You people in this line of work have real talent. I struggle to explain my research ideas to my advisors, yet your videos make science/math communication to the general public seem so easy...
