@PhillyMayor@PHLWatchdog If you care about history, why is there currently a bill to weaken the historical preservation law that is supported by your administration during 250?
@jblumgart Perhaps there were 100-some residents opposed. This is a small percentage when you realize there are 1400 properties, and many condos within those buildings.
@jblumgart There absolutely should be tiers of designation. And Washington Square West, located at the center of our historic city, should be tier 1. There are many other neighborhoods that deserve protection but would best be served by a tier 2 or 3 designation.
@jblumgart I'm disappointed in this article, as it does not give a fully balanced assessment of the issue. 90%+ of permits for work on historic properties are approved over the counter. Only a small percentage go to the archectural committee.
The @federalreserve’s massive restoration/expansion project is centered on the striking Eccles Building in #DC, designed by #Philadelphia architect Paul P. Cret. Photos show the Stripped Classical style pile prior to being dedicated by FDR in 1937.
