As a World Cup host, the U.S. shouldn't be flippantly barring officials from entering the country to do their jobs.
It's terribly backward.
It's also counterproductive.
Global sports competitions should improve international exchange and relations, not the reverse.
I've been keeping a close eye on the @UgandaMediaCent since @kasujja stepped in as Executive Director, and the shift has been hard to ignore. Those pictures and graphics got sharper, cleaner, and more on-brand for a modern government communications outfit.
It's not just the aesthetics but proactive push in how they now engage the public online, like someone's finally treating digital as more than an afterthought.
In this fast-moving digital space, you need people who don't just react but anticipate, adapting quickly without losing the plot. @kasujja's approach shows what integrating into the evolving online world can look like for public institutions.
That said, there's still ground to cover. The Centre could lean harder into being more objective and comprehensive, more extensive in its coverage, and genuinely interactive across platforms. Extending that same energy to TikTok, YouTube, and the rest would go a long way in making government comms feel less one-way and more connected to everyday Ugandans.
What stands out most, though, is the bigger lesson here for those in positions of influence; leaders, the well-connected, the rich, whoever holds the keys. We don't have to wait until we "own" the knowledge ourselves before acting on good ideas.
When someone brings something that could lift an organisation, why not listen? Why feel threatened instead of leaning in for the sake of the bigger picture? Because even if you steal an idea (as it seems to be), you can't replicate the soul the original thinker poured into it. That's why so many MDAs, companies, and outfits keep rolling out strategies that look good on paper but flop in delivery.
They spend the money, chase the optics, and end up facing the same old accusations; stealing, laundering, and inefficiency. No heart, no ownership, no real results.
I am Praying we learn as a country. Leaders who build teams, not empires. Organisations that value implementation as much as the spark. Mr. Kasujja's early moves at the Centre are a quiet reminder that it can be done better. Let's not sleep on it.
This morning, I took my oath as the Woman MP for Lira City. Itโs my honor and privilege to serve the people once again.

Government has launched construction of a sports training facility at Lira University as Uganda prepares to host AFCON tournaments.
The project, worth 13.2 billion shillings, has been awarded to the UPDF Engineering Brigade and is expected to be completed within six months, after works started on April 1, 2026.
National Council of Sports General Secretary Patrick Ogwel says all funds have been released, with the contractor already receiving full payment to ensure timely completion.
Leaders say the facility will support sports training and talent development in Lango and remain useful even after AFCON events.
Officials have also raised concern over the lack of a standard hotel in Lira City, warning it could affect hosting rights despite ongoing stadium and facility upgrades.

I was suspended by the VC @LIRA_UNIVERSITY in May 2023 and later on "illegally" dismissed in January 2024.
With my Lawyers, we applied for Judicial review at the High Court of Lira.
For 3 years, I have been out of the University; but I am glad to tell you that the Lira High Court has issued judgement in my favor.
And for the Students of Lira University, the ungazetted policies and laws that the University administration has been using to oppress students have been TRASHED by the High court.
I told you JUSTICE DELAYS, but JUSTICE COMES.
Great thanks to my Lawyers and all those that stood with me. Kamanda @SuunaKing_James ๐
Who still has a question about the NEXT GUILD PRESIDENT @LIRA_UNIVERSITY?

Following this post, someone sent me money to buy 10 packs (each at 17,000/) of reusable pads and donate them to needy girls. A pack can go for over a year. I think of giving them to girls in a remote rural school, but it would make more sense if the beneficiaries are more than 10. If you wish to contribute to this, you may send your contribution on this number in my names 0750423325
Thank you
๐จUPDATE: What's the role of having uniformed military officers as members of Parliament in Uganda today?
โImagine they are also allocated UGX 315M for vehicles
โMedical insurance for them and their entire family
โThey are provided with free fule monthly
โThey actually don't participate in parliamentary plenarys besides sitting in the house and say yes to all government bills/amendments
โThey are paid the same amount of money like other MPS despite the fact they serve the interests of the dictator
NB: This is how public funds are wasted on security officers who abducts, torture and murder those paying their salaries.
Sanity should be restored in the LG recruitment process. The brave are left to languish vice versa, resulting in poor service delivery to the citizens.

Tom Odur Anang, Chairperson of the Kwania District Service Commission (DSC), has dismissed allegations of bribery and corruption linked to the recruitment of government employees in Kwania District, describing the claims as politically motivated and unfounded.
His remarks came following a tense district council sitting where councillors opposed his re-appointment, citing concerns over the integrity of the recruitment process by his commission. Some members alleged that the commission solicited bribes from job applicants and engaged in irregular practices.
Odur rejected the accusations and accused certain leaders of hiring individuals to disrupt the council proceedings and tarnish his reputation. He termed the actions โshameful,โ saying they were intended to undermine the commissionโs work.
Responding to claims that the DSC recruited unqualified headteachers, he stated that the contested appointments were made under Apac District authorities before his tenure, insisting he should not be held responsible.
