They enable people to live with greater independence while getting the support they need. It’s easy to take this support for granted, but for those who rely on it for themselves or a loved one, it is essential.
So many lives are impacted by this work, and to all our direct care workers in PA – from the bottom of my heart, thank you for all you do every day and for choosing this essential work. The Shapiro Administration is committed to supporting your work and the people you serve.
As SEIU’s new president, I am ready to make #ThisUnion 1M members stronger and win new laws that allow all workers, regardless of race, gender or sector, to have a union!

When two-thirds of the people killed in Gaza are women and children, when you block humanitarian aid, you’re not just going after Hamas. You’re going after the entire Palestinian people.
@GovernorShapiro What about a people budget? one that benefits the working class or one that protects all homecare workers, what about our disabled and having to enter through the back door at the capitol we deserve change
LIVE: Today I offer a simple resolution:
NO to antisemitism.
NO to Islamophobia.
NO to racism and bigotry in all its forms.
YES to free speech and protest under the 1st Amendment, whether on a college campus or across our nation. https://t.co/czTwnQnz6b
@GovernorShapiro What about caregivers like me who make poverty wages for decades! Too many people can't receive care b/c workers can't survive on the pay. It's time to give ALL home care workers a LIVING WAGE!

Our state’s population is aging, but right now there's only 1 home care worker for every 6 people who need care. Why? Because we can't meet the overwhelming need for quality home care with a workforce that earns poverty-level wages, has no health insurance, and no time-off.
For too long, the rich have paid too little in taxes while the working and poor have paid too much. I was glad to join @PennPolicy for the launch of their tax justice initiative today. Special thanks to @seiuhcpa home care workers Suzzanne & Jacinta for their powerful speeches.
“We have to do something for home healthcare workers!”
@seiuhcpa urges lawmakers to lift the wages of homecare workers. These critical workers - on average - earn only $13 an hour in Pennsylvania.
That is not enough.
