Of the four cardinal virtues of Greek philosophy (Wisdom, Justice, Courage, Temperance), courage is the most forgotten of today's world.
First among human qualities, [courage] is the quality that guarantees all the others.
Hi @NeilOttawa walk around downtown Ottawa, which once had a thriving Jewish presence. How much visible Jewish life do you see today? I see plenty of visible Muslim life: hijabs, businesses, community life, but remarkably little that is identifiably Jewish.
I walk around Ottawa wearing a baseball cap with entirely non-political Hebrew writing on it. There’s no political slogan, no statement about Israel or the war, just Hebrew about a volunteer organization in Israel that doest amazing work helping both Muslims and Jews.
The hostile stares I've been getting are not a figment of my imagination. I'm convinced last week I was denied seating as a walk in at a restaurant in the Glebe. The hostess couldn't take her eye of my hat. She told me they were fully reserved at 8:30pm even while they had several empty tables. They were still empty an hour later as I left the neighbouring restaurant which accommodated me.
Maybe you should spend some time asking why Jewish Canadians increasingly feel uncomfortable being visibly Jewish in their own city, and what it would take to bring that sense of security and belonging back.
This is the country now.
Armed men smash into a Whitby home at 3:50 in the morning.
They force a family into the basement.
They shoot the man’s son.
Jason Munroe wrestles THEIR gun away.
He uses the weapon they brought into his house.
The invaders run.
He fires from his porch as they flee.
Hits nobody.
The courts say the shots inside were one thing.
The shots from his own porch were another.
So the dad gets two years less a day of house arrest.
GPS monitor.
Three years probation.
The Crown wasn’t done.
They went to the Court of Appeal asking for more time.
They lost.
Read that again.
The people who brought an illegal gun into a family home
are not the ones Ottawa is chasing for a longer sentence.
The father who stopped them is.
You don’t need a law degree to see the problem.
You just need a son or daughter!

"So let us confront the sad and harrowing truth" that it is wildly untrue to say antisemitism has no place in Canada. Antisemitism has a privileged and comfortable place here. Stop saying "this is not who we are." It is exactly who we have become.
As many of us have been long warning, the pro-Palestinian hate rallies were not organic. They were seeded by our foreign adversaries to sow hate, division, and disorder.
Now, my @ipacglobal colleague Sir @MPIainDS has shared revelations that the Chinese Communist Party seeded them in the UK.
What they did to our #FiveEyes and @NATO ally you can bet they did to us in 🇨🇦 and across the western alliance.
In this era of authoritarianism and disinformation, it’s more important than ever that democracies #StandTogether.

People ask me what Chow is like. I tell them she is a deeply dishonest person.
Despite a $120,000 family income, @oliviachow lived in the publicly-subsidized Hazelburn co-op in Toronto and paid $800 a month for a three bedroom + den unit. According to the co-op, she should have been paying hundreds more. Thousands of people were on the waiting lists for the kinds of units Chow occupied. She moved out shortly after getting caught by the media.
All of that is verifiably true. And it is considered so damaging, Chow's campaign has done secret focus group research on what to say about it.

The Canadian government has broken a fundamental covenant with not just the Jewish community, but with all Canadians.
Canadians have the right to freedom of conscience, religion, thought, belief, opinion, expression, peaceful assembly, and association.
Except in Canada, that's obviously no longer true.
If one group is left to fend for themself with nothing more than empty words from the Prime Minister to comfort them, then all groups are all at risk of discrimination and violence.
The West is handing over the world's economy to China. To China, for God's sake: an unimaginably brutal totalitarian regime.
And why?
So our hypocritical elite can continue to style themselves as planetary saviors?
Enough demoralizing doom-crying.
Enough despicable praying in public.
Enough subverting our children's future.
Enough pointless impoverishing of Europe and Australia.
Enough bloody Net Zero idiocy.
Enough.
@HenMazzig They violated the Hippocratic Oath, the Declaration of Geneva and the International Code of Medical ethics.
As a physician, I would refuse to work with them.
The answer is iron will.
Not law enforcement elites and ideological prosecutors pointing to a political class for why they can’t act.
It’s a betrayal of their independence to suggest that ideological politicians and the mob prevents them from shutting down a violent network of international terror and crime. The cops on the street and in the communities, the intelligence officials who do the work, all know their leaders have been weak.
And not a political class, fearful of a mob determined to burn the country down.
What should they do? Execute the biggest crackdown on violent fanatics and the money that finances them.
Have the self respect to defend our country and our people.
And restore the rule of law.
There is a hint of delicious irony to all this.
China currently manufactures 80% of the world’s solar panels, 75–80% of all batteries, 60–65% of wind turbine parts and 55% of global crude steel.
This staggering modern-day success story represents the largest, quietest transfer of industrial might and power in human history.
China's manufacturing grunt is more than the next 15 countries combined—larger than the US, EU and Japan together. To power this industrial onslaught, China commissions around six state-of-the-art coal plants a month (50–80 GW a year).
It operates over 1,200 coal plants totaling 1,271 GW—more than half the world’s total capacity. Its coal mining fleet is four times larger than second-place India.
As a result, China’s share of global manufacturing grew from 6% to 30% since 2000. Meanwhile, America’s plunged like a lead balloon from 25% to around 12%, and Europe’s collapsed from 25% to around 14%.
How? China uses abundant, reliable coal power, refuses to bind itself to net-zero, and has leadership that treats factories and steel mills as critical assets—unlike the West.
In geopolitical terms, this should be a lightning rod across the decaying West. But the job on the West is just about done, and the Western green transition is now almost entirely dependent on hardware manufactured by China.
This rise to dizzy heights was only made possible by using the same demonised dense fossil fuel energy that has already sent the Western world spiralling into a brackish, foul-tasting, latter-day mediaeval backwater.
It should be the biggest, loudest, and most outrageous news story in the Western world—but it hardly rates a mention.
@kinsellawarren Yes. Political expedience has allowed anti-Semitism to explode across the country for at least 3 years. We had a chance to correct course in 2025. The ruling party continues to choose power over principle. We are reaping the whirlwind.
Principle can still win.
Never did I think I'd be living in one of the most antisemitic countries in the Western world.
But I do. And the police and prosecutors and politicians don't seem to give a shit.
