Hadi Abbasian, 38, from Shirvan in North Khorasan, is at imminent risk of execution in Iran.

Before his arrest he recorded two audio messages to his neighbors. He said he had gone into the streets only for peaceful protest, and he rejected the charges of “links to Israel” and “terrorism” as false. He has since been sentenced to death. Other reports say the charge used against him was recording a protest video, and that he was tortured and denied a lawyer of his choice and family visits.

The Islamic Republic is still handing down and carrying out death sentences against people detained in the January 2026 protests. Silence is not neutral.
