The *last milestone* before first Ariane 6 liftoff called the 'wet dress rehearsal' is complete! It was also the first time we could see our new rocket in all its glory, standing tall and proud on the launch pad 🤩 Target launch date: 9 July 2024🚀
Hats off to all the teams at @ESA, @ArianeGroup, @CNES and @Arianespace

Here the 1st camera on the PLATO Optical Bench.
13 cameras already delivered to the Prime, 2 more arriving next days! With contributions from 12 countries and coordination from ESA and INAF/ASI the 26 cameras are jewels of optical technology. 🇮🇹🇨🇭🇸🇪🇪🇸🇬🇧🇳🇴🇩🇪🇨🇿🇵🇹🇹🇩🇳🇱ESA
One lonely camera on @ESA_Plato’s optical bench🥹
Don’t worry! Soon it will be joined by 25 other cameras as OHB attaches them one by one in their facility in Oberpfaffenhofen, Germany.

For the past 2 years I have chaired the Expert Team "moons of the giant Solar System planets" of @esa. We have now published the report, indicating Enceladus as top target for the search of habitable conditions and signatures of life. https://t.co/rdhXMuBWYD
The PLATO 26 Cameras result from the effort of researchers and engineers from ESA and institutes and industries in 12 countries. the Cam system is coordinated by INAF/ASI and ESA with support from KUL and OHB @esascience@mediainaf@AgenziaSpaziale@IvS_KULeuven@OHB_SE@ipanice
Deadline Monday March 4 for submitting abstracts! We're aiming at gathering experts of binary stars, asteroseismology, including theoreticians and observers to build up new projects.
We've confirmed 5,569 planets beyond our solar system so far. Some may have jewels blowing in their winds, others could have glass. We've detected burning clouds of black atmosphere and clouds made of quartz. Each is a marvel. https://t.co/UbAUiqDqtW
A noteworthy event … NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration and ESA - European Space Agency have discovered six planets all moving in synch together 100 light years away (but still within the Milky Way). The vastness and complexities of space still astonish me. Be inquisitive. Never stop learning. Never stop discovering.
