🔆 We’ve got some Demand Gen updates to share:
Expanded Channel control: Starting in March, you’ll be able to choose where your ads show across all ad surfaces (see image below). This builds on last year’s launch of creative preferences which allows you to anchor your video assets to specific formats.
GDN + GVP: Demand Gen inventory is expanding to the Google Display Network.
- If you’re currently opted into GVP (under campaign settings) and have image assets in your campaign, your image ads will serve on GDN.
- When the new channel control launches, you’ll be able to opt in or out of this combined inventory under “Google Display Network”.
New reporting column for performance comparisons: Now in beta, the new “conversions (Campaign Type)” column in Google Ads aligns with how social advertising platforms measure performance.
Creatives updates:
- Vertical image ads for Shorts: Starting in late February, you’ll be able to run full-screen 9:16 vertical image ads in Shorts.
- Shorten videos with video enhancements: In the coming weeks, you’ll have the option to have Google automatically create shorter versions of your video ads in video enhancements. Video enhancements launched last year with the option to automatically flip your videos to create vertical and square versions.
2 new betas for merchants with product feeds:
- Quick access to product details: In a new ad experience, users will be able to view your product detail pages right within your ad.
- Local inventory: We’ll show your local in-store product availability in your ads when applicable.

An FYI: To better reflect how ads can appear in Google Search today, we’ve updated the definition of top ads.
Note that this is a definitional change (as ads can appear above the organic result or below for certain queries) and doesn’t affect how performance metrics are calculated.
The update is now reflected in the relevant Help Center pages – for example here: https://t.co/NcgMkYQzl0
