During the incident, Vipin Rajput, holding a machete, used loudspeakers to issue warnings and hurl abuses at Muslims residents. The members also attacked people and vandalised property with lathis, while stone-pelting was reported from both sides. Local residents alleged that the police did not intervene to stop the members from engaging in violence.
