@Cloudwatch199 She is depressed and may have to self deport to the country she has not seen since she was 4 as we are here in the US from last 17+ yrs awaiting for GC. US WILL LOSE ALL SUCH TALENT SOON if steps are not taken to protect aging kids. My younger one will age out soon now.
@Cloudwatch199 (1/2) My daughter aged out 2 years ago and currently on F1. She is now treated as international student and despite of her academic excellence (CS from Honors College) her resume never reaches actual recruiter as hiring bots rejects being on F1.
@Cloudwatch199 Thanks for highlighting. I think we should now focus on removing country caps, EAD for I-140 approved and most importantly locking age and EAD for kids of H1B. Total H1B count will automatically reduce with these measures. Your support is indeed needed for these issues.
@ChrisCoons Thank you Senator for support. The reason total number of H1B holders looks high is that currently around 800k people (mostly from India) who should have received green cards years/decades ago are still waiting due to 7% country caps on Green card. Please help in removing quota
Thanks for highlighting real issue. USA is losing real talent of kids who are completing education in the US but then have to self deport as their parents are locked in long non-ending GC queue due to country caps.
Absolutely. This should be the top priority rn. Indians are waiting in GC queue due to country caps and their kids age out at 21 and have to self-deport. I lived here for 17+ years, my first child aged out and second will in few yrs. THIS MUST BE FIXED.
Do you support raising immigration country caps?
@elonmusk, @VivekGRamaswamy, & @realDonaldTrump are right.
But we must tackle country caps (currently 7%) & green card backlogs (years/decades).
The Dignity Act addresses these to increase American prosperity & competitiveness.
Thanks David for bringing clarity. America needs to ensure that immigration should be merit based and not a reservation system where fixed number of people from each country gets green card. This country cap is causing brain drain of skilled people to other countries
Point of clarification: Sriram didn’t say he wants to remove all caps on green cards. He said he wants to remove *country* caps on green cards. Right now, every country in the world gets allocated the same number of green cards, no matter how many qualified applicants it has. So applicants from India have an 11 year wait whereas applicants from many other countries have no wait at all. Sriram still supports skills-based criteria for receiving a green card, not making the program unlimited. In fact, he wants to make the program entirely merit-based. Supporting a limited number of highly skilled immigrants is still a prevalent view on the right. Sriram is definitely not a “career leftist”!
Documented Dreamers came to the United States legally, but lose their status at age 21 due to our broken immigration system. When we lose them, we lose their talents and energy.
My remarks in a @HouseJudiciary Immigration Subcommittee hearing 🔽:
My son was 3 months and now turning 18. For college admission, he is not eligible for in-state tuition fees, FAFSA, state grants and not eligible to work. Soon he has to self deport. Please save our kids whose only fault is that they are born in India and legally in US.
@VivekGRamaswamy This is exactly we are requesting. Many highly skilled Indians (H1B) have filed for green card 8-12 yrs ago but due to long wait their kids are aging out at 21 and have to self deport and separated from family. Please save us all and support EAD once I-140 is approved. @elonmusk
@atalovesyou My son came here in elementary school,he just finished his MBA..we got our green card in 2022,unfortunately he was 21 when we filed ours…since he is not from stem..he got 1 year OPT and then what next,we have to hospitalize him couple of times for depression and anxiety..
- Reduce PERM processing time
- Recapture unused Green Cards
- EADs for approved I-140 petitions
- Stop counting derivative family members
- Age out protection
- Auto-renew H-1B if no change to the original petition
Low hanging fruits before we get to the big stuff!
@JThesma@BaldwinSpeaks Second one is easily achievable as it already has bipartisan support. I believe we all should come together and fight for one “possible” solution at a time and the go to next possible one. Just my opinion
@VivekGRamaswamy Vivek and @elonmusk , Please at least support to get employment authorization (EAD) to children of H1B visa holders who came to US at young age. A bipartisan agreement was already reached however never enacted. Support @TheDipPatel and @ImproveTheDream leading this initiative
@anujchristian Look at all the replies /comments and you can figure out what their supporters want from him. His supporters will never let him do what he said
@ajainb@Amanda_F1_NBA@AKAMI0007@POTUS@BillClinton@FLOTUS@HillaryClinton At least push for EAD for aged out /aging out kids. We have bipartisan support for kids of legal immigrants who are raised here and are/were on dependent visa to get EAD until their parents get GC. They should not be thrown out of US at 21. This can be done by EO. No bill needed
Same happened with my daughter. She was 4 when we came to US and now aged out. Paid all taxes , followed all laws and regulations only to be advised by Government to follow illegals’ path. Great job.
Praneetha attended elementary, middle, high school, and university in the United States. She now works for a top company helping with artificial intelligence.
Despite being raised and educated lawfully, she faces leaving the country next month.
