@hannahkrieg You’re not even using recent pay scales, which are available. If you’re goin for claim a point and call out tricky, it helps not to do so yourself.
I don’t know what to believe at this point, both sides seem to be trying to mislead and control the narrative.
@vsbuffalo I tried to explain this to someone considering moving to Kirkland. It’s unfortunately true, especially when there’s a toll on 520 each way that is more than you’d pay with working public transit.
@hthillman@engele@wsferries Fair criticism, but you also can’t in turn only quote base pay and not total comp. How much per year do these folks actually make, once you include overtime, pension and all benefits?
I’m guessing it’s not $70K. Either way, people should be paid fairly. They should not walk out.
@mediator9@SenMarkKelly You clearly don’t live in the PNW. And it does change the amount of sun if you’re not awake when it is sunny but are awake when it’s dark.
@SenMarkKelly Strongly disagree, those of us in the PNW want Pacific Daylight Time. Otherwise it gets dark by 4:30PM in the winter and it’s incredibly depressing.
@PNWConservative My guess is the multiple layoffs in Tech combined with an already softer job market and the noticeable increase in mortgage rates to above 7% are all playing a role. There were also a lot of rental places that seem to have gone down in price.
@stevesi I don’t know if panic is the right response, but there’s already been numerous cases of hacking government systems and other companies, all of which are very illegal if done by a human. So some kind of reaction seems justified.
@Gramps_bloomers@wastatepatrol I can’t fathom how remembering a WSP detective could prompt such an inconsiderate response. As someone who claims to want to inspire others, this post falls rather short of that goal.
@stevesi Same. I was locked out completely with a generic “Something went wrong” error. Thankfully, I have a backup key. I don’t even know how to report this to Apple properly now that iOS 27 is out of Beta and the Feedback app gets removed.
@mikepat711 You don’t mention the half baked job Apple did to integrate this in iOS. That huge black bubble would have surely been vetoed by Jobs. It also leaves notifications on permanently until you dismiss them if you use “Hey Siri”, with useless text like “Ok.”
@PNWConservative Not entirely following your point. You gave a big tip at $8 (~21%) which is what makes this trip cost quite high. The actual cost was $47 which included an airport surcharge and taxes. That’s still pretty high but taxis charge the same.
@MaxRovensky@teslaflexx Both things can be true. You cannot compare an artificially low priced ride to a real one and call it a game changer. You also could claim that eventually, it could disrupt Uber if it succeeds. For now, that’s a big if.
@stevesi Maybe, hard to tell. Innovation matters, and while Apple has managed to keep pace (if not lead) technically, it seems behind in terms of vision.
@stevesi Their strategy has never made sense to me. I’d be for transit here if it was convenient, efficient and reliable. Instead, it’s extremely expensive to build, makes driving a pain, and it’s not even for fast transit.
@suzamaroo You’re right and you’re wrong. If the city isn’t getting money from rent or taxes, then that is a cost that is in addition to whatever it’s going to cost to run a grocery store. A for-profit 3rd party (not the city) is likely to get a contract to run these stores. Insane!
@F1_Newsletter They are two very different cases. In the first, Lewis is behind, tries to overtake, touches and causes the car ahead to spin out. Penalty.
In the second case, Piastri tries to overtake, runs out of room before the turn, keeps trying rather than slow down. No penalty.
