This might seem to you like some nerds side project, and while it is technically, it is also much more important than you think.

Historically, whenever anything is made transparent to the voting bloc it undergoes radical change.

Every. Single. Time.

To the extent governments work overtime to make things opaque. (And I expect that to happen to this dataset too very soon, in a thousand different ways.)

The internet makes everything including politics “global/local” and local laws won’t escape.

It’s hard to understand right now how profound this will be, but we live in interesting times for sure.

For years, I raised alarms about dangerous gain-of-function research being farmed out to foreign countries, and I was told it was a conspiracy theory. Now, declassified documents show that the U.S. funded over 120 biolabs across more than 30 countries. Some of this research was conducted overseas precisely because scientists knew it would face scrutiny on American soil.

Today’s story behind the numbers: This #FBI and its law enforcement partners dismantled a dangerous international methamphetamine ring run out of an auto shop in Georgia that led to a life sentence.

James Len Ramey received two life sentences on Friday for distributing hundreds of kilograms of methamphetamine trafficked from Mexico. He used his employment at an auto shop to distribute the deadly illegal drugs into the Atlanta community.

“This investigation is a prime example of the critical work being done to dismantle violent drug trafficking organizations that operate with impunity, bringing dangerous narcotics into our communities,” said @FBIAtlanta Special Agent in Charge Marlo Graham.

This FBI continues to take down the illegal drug trafficking rings threatening the safety of our communities. During Operation Spring Cleaning, this FBI seized over 2,700 pounds of illegal narcotics including over 1100 pounds of cocaine, nearly 700 pounds of methamphetamine and over 550 pounds of marijuana.
