Yesterday, I received a delegation of Ukrainian MPs, led by Hon. Oleksandr Merezhko, Chairperson of the Committee on Foreign Policy and Interparliamentary Relations.

The delegation included Hon. Zhan Beleniuk, who was born from a Rwandan father and is a former Olympic champion of Greco-Roman wrestling. He is the Leader of the Parliamentary Friendship Group.

We discussed bilateral relations, the situation in our respective regions and parliamentary diplomacy.

1/10/1990 – 1/10/2026 | On October 1st, we honour the courage and sacrifice of the Inkotanyi who took up the struggle for the rights, dignity and unity of Rwandans.

Thirty-six years later, their legacy remains relevant. In the Great Lakes region, communities continue to face hate speech, persecution and the denial of their fundamental rights and dignity.

As Rwandans, let's continue to uphold the values for which the Inkotanyi fought for: unity, dignity and patriotism.

There was an interesting conversation between President Tshisekedi's messenger to the White House @HarianaVeras and US President @realDonaldTrump. When the former alleged Rwanda was "still killing people in Congo," President Trump redirected her with a question: "How is Ebola going?"

To understand why Gen. Ekenge remains @FARDC_officiel's spokesperson in 2026, it's because: Had @fatshi13 been a judge at the #ICTR, justice would have been swift—and nonexistent. Today, Hon. Minister @Dominiquehab and Hon. Minister of State @mskayisire chaired a consultative meeting with Local Government leaders to discuss and deliberate preparations and ensure the smooth conduct of the forthcoming Local Government elections.
