Hi. I'm a 👨💻 technologist & consultant 🧙♂️ with a contrarian view point to certain mainstream tech ideas. I'm also a jack of many trades and master of some
Microsoft didn't cancel Claude Code because it was bad.
They canceled it because it was TOO GOOD.
Engineers loved it so much that 84-95% used it monthly. Costs hit $500-$2,000 per person. Uber's entire $3.4B AI budget evaporated in 4 months.
The finance department killed what the engineering department unanimously praised.
Read that story again slowly.
AI tools are now so productive that companies literally cannot afford to let their employees use them freely.
This is the most bullish signal for solopreneurs I've ever seen.
Big companies will throttle, restrict, and ration AI access to control costs. Their engineers will be stuck on watered-down internal tools.
Meanwhile, you're sitting at home with Pro access to every frontier model on the planet for the price of a Netflix subscription.
The playing field isn't leveling. It's inverting.
Q: How are job postings for software engineers rising rapidly despite AI agents automating coding?
A: Because there’s far more code to manage than ever before. We’re already seeing a 14x YoY increase in GitHub commits, and it’s accelerating.
AI has dramatically lowered the cost of writing code, so it’s now being used across far more businesses, applications, and use cases.
We’re at the beginning of a massive productivity boom driven by the proliferation of bespoke software throughout the entire economy.
Coding has been AI’s breakout use case this year. The fact that it’s increased demand for software engineers — rather than decreased it — should call into question the entire “AI will cause mass job loss” narrative.
🚨BREAKING: On Friday afternoon, an artificial intelligence coding agent powered by Anthropic's Claude Opus 4.6 deleted a company's entire production database in nine seconds.
The company is called PocketOS. It is a software platform that powers car rental businesses. The database contained months of customer bookings, vehicle records, and operational data that small rental car companies relied on to run their businesses.
When the database was deleted, all of the backups were deleted with it.
Three months of customer reservations evaporated.
Its safe to say software developer jobs are fine despite AI
I have 15 years experience in software development, and I know what to prompt, but still it takes hundreds of prompts to create an app with AI
If you have 0 experience, you dont even know what to ask it.
then what do you do when the app breaks ?
non-devs have no chance to vibecode a production app
devs on the other hand seem to get superpowers
@zuess05 It matters because of added tech debt and its not just about messy its poor architecture decisions etc.
Junior devs and vibe coders wont understand because they never had to maintain and fix a large enterprise codebase that matters.
@systemdesignone Not giving any more money to Apple. Desktop, AMD CPU, Linux as OS. Its weird how many developers cant setup Linux or say its too much time investment.
Office jobs are cooked in the next year. A lot of lazy people who forward emails, make spreadsheets, and create PowerPoint decks are going to have to figure out how to do real work. I think this is a good thing. Everyone is going to be forced to become high agency.
bro was right.
Atlassian down 75%. HubSpot down 69%. Figma down 86%.
Almost all of them down 30–70% from their 52-week highs.
AI is literally eating software alive and repricing every company in real time.
SaaS is cooked fr 😭
