@Praetorian987b@billybinion It doesn’t help that DOGE was run by imbeciles. They went after the smallest part of the US budget, applied absolutely no forethought to how to make real changes that would stick, lied constantly about what they were doing, and entrusted it all to poorly vetted CS staffers.
Just asked Victor Wembanyama if he’d ever consider promoting a sports betting company.
“Absolutely not. I will never do that. Honestly, I think it's very sad to see some players promote it. …Everybody does whatever they want, but without me.”
@i_slamson@jimstewartson@davetroy Lol I have no idea. I’m engaging with the (perhaps mistakenly interpreted) implication that Matt’s quoted position is cultish. The quoted position being “AI could have bad consequences” and “its bad to dismiss people’s legitimate worries by simply calling them doomers”
@LJS527@CathyYoung63 Great summary, and worth pointing out that sports gambling in particular is the product being sold. Essentially all us professional sports advertising is bankrolled by gambling now. Lots of people don’t want the hottest woman in Hollywood selling their kids financial devastation
"Last year, Trump tried to send kids alone to Guatemala in middle of the night, before judges halted him. But if there are no lawyers present, such eleventh hour rescues become impossible. That appears to be the point of the let’s-eliminate-the-competent-lawyers scheme." https://t.co/vRJhtGvD3E
@nickshirleyy My dad goes to one of these. He had a severe stroke and is in a wheelchair. We’re able to handle most caregiving, but a local center like this is the only way we can do that and still work. Not sure about Medicaid, we pay out of pocket, but I’m sure they get some gov funding.
@frugalbc@DKThomp Yes in part, but inflation was on a downward trajectory from the pandemic, and then completely stalled. We were expecting interest rate cuts as well, and those didn’t happen, and now may go up. Easily traceable to these systemic shocks to the system originating from the executive
@nevertakeknee@curtis_yarvin Looks like the 58/59 number is overstated, as well. About half of these cases progressed to the point of reviewing evidence, and were decided on those grounds.

@ded_ruckus@KelseyTuoc Respectfully, it’s not a couple of tweets. It’s essentially the defining aspect of his online persona, that he reinforces consistently across the last several years.
@cyron879 Look, I agree with you I think, that routing out waste, fraud, and abuse in the federal gov is extremely important. But to do that you have to show actual evidence of fraud where it’s taking place. Elon failed in that disastrously, and seemingly no one else can show it either.
@cyron879 Because IG’s and gov agencies report their outcomes directly to the Executive and bi-partisan Congressional oversight committees. It’s odd that none of these entities have produced any specific evidence of connection to terrorist orgs or widespread fraud. Isn’t that their job?
