The Portland Fire Department wishes to congratulate FF/Paramedic Scott Labbe (E6, Plt 4) who is working his last shift today and will retire at 0800 hrs tomorrow after just over 25 years of dedicated service to our City and Department!
Platoon 3 Members are currently on the scene of an All Hands Fire at 45 Johanson St. Command is reporting a garage fire is now knocked down, no extension into the house.
The 3rd Alarm has been struck for 260 Commercial St: Brown Trading. Crews have fire in a large commercial building. All Portland Fire Companies are on scene and mutual aid communities are in to the City covering the empty firehouses.
Virtually everyone in #Maine has been affected in different ways by #coronavirus. Perhaps no one has thanked you if you canceled a birthday party, graduation, or religious gathering. So I thank you. Please know that you have helped save lives.
Effective this morning, Rescue 2 (our spare Rescue) has been re-designated as Decon 1. This unit is now staffed with 2 Hazmat Technicians 24/7 and will be assisting our crews with all decontamination efforts as we continue to respond to Covid related increased calls for service.
As we all continue to practice social distancing, many of our firehouses have been doing their best to help support our local restaurants! We look forward to the day that we can all resume our normal activities without restrictions. Until then, stay healthy and be safe!
Update on the All Hands Fire @ 322 Stevens Ave: Crews had the fire under control within 30 minutes of arrival. Currently, one lane of Stevens Avenue remains closed while the remaining fire crews are still operating on the scene. No injuries are reported. (Photo courtesy of WGME)
Breaking News: The All Hands has been struck for a residential building fire @ 322 Stevens Avenue. Platoon 4 crews have heavy fire in a 1 1/2 wood frame building. Stevens Ave is shut down.
