Cas13 has been proposed as an antiviral strategy. Our lab has been working towards making that a reality. Yesterday, in PLOS Pathogens, our newest paper on using Cas13 to treat influenza. @EmoryMedicine@UGAResearch@DukeMedSchool https://t.co/C65ggJ6f7h
Are you interested in Cas13 as an anti-viral? I’m pleased to announce that our paper on the use of mRNA encoded Cas13 to treat Dengue infections in vivo was published today in Nature Microbiology. https://t.co/FBp3CaM1Be @DARPA@EmoryMedicine@CoulterBME@GeorgiaStateU
A breath of fresh… medicine? Researchers are designing inhalable therapies for lung cancer, diabetes, measles, migraines and Covid-19. https://t.co/s2wMbwgnQz via @WSJ
Very excited to see that our recent paper in Nature Materials was highlighted in a news and views article this month! Take a look! https://t.co/37oX96I2YQ @CoulterBME@ugavetmed@NatureMaterials@DARPA@GT_CHEM
Have you seen the first issue of Nature Reviews Bioengineering? @natrevbioeng There is a a research highlight discussing our paper on inhalable mRNA formulations and therapeutics! https://t.co/4erED21EnN Please check it out! @DARPA@CoulterBME@EmoryMedicine@EmoryVaccineCtr
Just wanted to share our latest paper in Advanced Science on nebulized mRNA‐encoded antibodies against SARS‐CoV‐2. https://t.co/N50ow3tV54 @DARPA@DrJeffHogan@elafon10@croweje@lab_haynes
I just want to congratulate Jared Beyersdorf @EmoryMedicine on being selected a DARPA Riser @DARPA and presenting our recent work on nerve agent countermeasures @CoulterBME at the event on the GT campus https://t.co/zqGbYPUt7O. Great job Jared!
I'd like to announce that our first paper on mRNA-encoded gene activation in vivo was published in ACS Nano. @acsnano Congrats and thanks to the Gersbach lab for this collaboration @cgersbach. @JohnDoench papers were very helpful. Support from @darpa. https://t.co/4gfWZB4O9r
@aixsponsa@AldhiTR@jantungpiisang Cas13 only cuts RNA not DNA. We express it with mRNA so it is transient and not genotoxic. Not all CRISPR proteins are the same.
Congratulations to all and great collaboration with James Dahlman and lab @DahlmanLab. Great work @MelissaPrasangi, Daryll V., Marine H. and Jared B., and all! @natBME, https://t.co/XRDxXi2s3D
I’m very happy to tell everyone about our new publication in Nature Biotechnology regarding a new mRNA encoded Cas13 therapy for influenza and SARS-CoV-2 demonstrated in rodent models. https://t.co/VMHlebOUQl
@singareddynm@Peter_1_1 In this work we did not use LNPs but a polymer for delivery of RNA via a nebulizer. I'll comment more on lung delivery in future tweets!
@hanniesarnie@DrPlattLab We are planning on moving to other species. Keep in mind that the hamster model for SARS-CoV-2 is a good model for severe disease. NHPs typically do not get as sick as the hamsters.
