Reminder: this is the Paris Agreement reality checkpoint that will affect countries' NDCs up to 2040.

Last night the dome at COP28 was lit up with the shapes of nature. Nature is more than something pretty to look at, it’s clean air, water, food - essential to our survival. Yet we’re still waiting for it to be valued in policy at COP28. How long until all we have left is lights?

As a decision on granting permission for a new coal mine in Cumbria looms, some facts:

- 85% of coal produced would be for export, not domestic use

- two major UK steel producers won’t necessarily use much of the coal, not least due to its composition and sulphur content

Global finance ministers now discussing how we are going to fund climate investment. ~$600 billion per year currently mobilised, but if we want to keep the 1.5 degrees alive, we're looking at needing to channel $2.5 trillion PER year by 2030 #COP27
