@MemEnglandhokey This is crazy. How England Hockey can say its “an important part of our calendar” yet hosts the Super 6’s at a school, with limited spectator viewing and no facilities. There are numerous other venues that are far more suitable.
@Lorse72@MemEnglandhokey It’s interesting that other national coaches see England as predictable. It’s a massively important job for the next coach with a home commonwealth games and Olympics in the next 2 years
@PWildebest@MemEnglandhokey I hope not. It would be great for England Hockey to recruit the best coach available and they unfortunately are not British
@PWildebest@MemEnglandhokey I agree that would definitely be the best option. Look at the likes of China, Spain, Ireland to name a few who have bought in experienced coaches with budgets that are probably considerably less than Englands would be.
@danny_bell18@MemEnglandhokey If you don’t have a decent flick/hit option then you work on different creative options. It’s crazy that it took England over a year to try something different and shock they scored. I have seen better corner routines in U14 matches
@david_brereton1@MemEnglandhokey@kitandrew1@ianhf Having watched a lot of England junior over the last 3 years there is an obsession with “Relentlessness”, coaches give awards for it. Having flair or talent is an after thought. They might as well recruit players from the local athletic club. Never picked up a stick no problem.
@MemEnglandhokey If you look back over the last 10-15 yrs how many of the coaches have followed the same pathways. You only need to look at the no of international coaches both junior & senior that have been to Loughborough. Recruit some coaches with different experience/cultures maybe?
@electricpascal@PWildebest@dairy033@MemEnglandhokey@Willowsacorns I looked at all her stats across women’s prem, junior int, indoor and outdoor. Indoor encourages quick shots and a different skillset. The scary thing is when you look at the top scorer charts over the last 3 years or so there is very few Eng players even on the list 👀
@MemEnglandhokey The sad thing is the difference in quality between the men’s and women’s coaching staff is huge. If the women had similar coaches I don’t doubt the women would be better placed to challenge for medals
@electricpascal@PWildebest@dairy033@MemEnglandhokey@Willowsacorns That is my point as well. A different skillset and having different ways to score / create opportunities is vital at the top level. In indoor you can’t hit / aerial your way out of trouble you need skill / flair
@MemEnglandhokey The crazy thing is that the Dutch have the best PCA in women’s hockey, but scored from a slip left, then to injector, then passed to a forward to score. If you don’t have players that can score from the top, try and be creative. It’s a painful watch
@electricpascal@PWildebest@dairy033@MemEnglandhokey@Willowsacorns On checking her stats across all competitions about 35% are drags. Her technique has stood up to being tested already in European and international level both indoor and indoor with her on numerous occasions being the top scorer. Like some other names mentioned, worth a chance
@ChrisM18@MemEnglandhokey Why England insist on playing players not in their natural and strongest positions is crazy. It feels like the pull the positions out of hat before the start of the game.
