Planetary Radio, The Planetary Society's podcast, is produced and hosted by Sarah Al-Ahmed, sharing the human adventure across our Solar System and beyond.
@starstrickenSF@exploreplanets It was wonderful talking with you, @starstrickenSF.
I've been getting messages from people all day who relate to your story or feel validated by our show addressing the obstacles that face women and POC who pursue degrees or careers in space science.
Thanks for being awesome!
Before I became the host of Planetary Radio, I was the digital community manager at @exploreplanets. A huge part of my job was helping to create our member community app. This is a huge day for our team, and we're so excited to give Planetary Society members a way to connect.
Our members just got a new perk! We have launched our digital member community app. Here members can connect globally, participate in exclusive live events and delve deeper into the wonders of our Cosmos. If you're not a member, now's the time to join π https://t.co/XHIOMhVmXi
Funny story. During @NASAPersevere's landing on Mars, I was streaming the footage to @exploreplanets Instagram live when the fire alarms in my building went off and blasted hundreds of viewers with blaring noises.
In retrospect, it's hilarious, but at the time...
There's a common joke among astronomers that the moment you try to observe something, a cloud will get in the way.
I'm finding that creating podcasts is similar. The moment you try to record, here come the helicopters, leaf blowers, and fire alarms. π
The spacecraft that's built like an armored tank. Dive into the latest mind-blowing discoveries on Jupiterβs moons, Ganymede, Europa, and Io, with Scott Bolton, the principal investigator for @NASASolarSystem's #JunoMission. This week on @planrad ποΈ https://t.co/DmChPof5uk
We're celebrating the success of the Artemis I mission this week on Planetary Radio. @jman1848, the assistant launch director at @NASAKennedy joined me to share his experience on the night of the launch. ππhttps://t.co/uRRCv3ZCGh
I couldn't fit the guest's name into the tweet, but it was a conversation with Jason Achilles, a musician who helped make the EDL Mars Microphone on the Perseverance rover a reality.
You'll hear our chat about the sounds of Mars later this month.
My favorite unrecorded convo with an upcoming show guest:
Guest: You worked at a tofu factory?
Me: Ya. Once I was hosting a taste test, and a woman spit tofu right into my hand.
Guest: Maybe it was a compliment, like in Dune?
Me: We thank you for the gift of your body's tofu. π
The delay to NASA's Psyche mission has sparked many interesting conversations about what's going on at @NASAJPL.
Our Chief of Space Policy, @CaseyDreier, speaks with JPL Director @LaurieofMars in this month's Space Policy Edition of Planetary Radio. https://t.co/ozr9fttzbX
