Earth-size exoplanet LP 791-18 d may have volcanic outbursts as often as Jupiter’s moon Io, the most volcanically active body in our solar system! That activity could help the planet maintain an atmosphere.

📷 The NASA/ESA/CSA James #Webb Space Telescope has found hints of water vapor around the rocky exoplanet GJ 486 b.
💧 If the water vapor is associated with the planet, it could indicate that it has an atmosphere despite its scorching temperature and close proximity to its star.
☀ However, the team cautions that the water vapor could be on the star itself – specifically, cool starspots – and not from the planet at all.

Could a water signature be coming from a star?! When @NASAWebb studied the exoplanet GJ 486 b and its host star, it saw H2O. On the planet, it would indicate an atmosphere. The water could also be vapor lingering in a cooler sunspot of its red dwarf star! https://t.co/DxAbMKLMU8
