That argument only holds if the taxes deliver real value. Most of that money goes to schools, yet my sons get far more from Kumon than their highly rated public school. If property taxes funded excellent education and community services, I’d pay more willingly. But they don’t, so forcing long-time homeowners (especially retirees) to keep paying or downsize feels unfair. Fix the spending first.
