@MarinerMuse 2025 was extra lucky in this regard. Couple that with about 4-6 really bad plays (2 sun drops, two horrible misplays on easy outs plus a sliding catch he just dropped). I think “locked in” Julio is like +5 these days if we get down to 2 terrible plays instead of 5.

@MarinerMuse Julio had a disproportionate amount of his challenge plays on hard hit balls close to him this year. In previous years he was fortunate to have very few of those, and his challenge plays were ones where he could use his good closing speed rather than his mediocre/bad jump.

@tangotiger I like the foul line rule just because hitters need a break. But it would be nice if they gave umps some guidance on calling it that way now just so we don’t have such an extreme meltdown when this gets implemented.

@TridentTrue I recognize what I’m about to say is loser talk, but I’m gonna say it anyway. This video illustrates nicely that the mariners hitters are actually not that bad, and they have had miserable luck both on BABIP and sequencing. It’s unfortunate that the bad luck lasted all year.

@Gravel_sense Concerned about the fastball movement. He had this crazy sidearm fastball with rise for the first few starts. Those looked like the real deal but since then it’s been less risey. He went from good stuff/good results and now he’s medium stuff/good results. Waiting for shoe to drop
