Today was my first day as Interim Dean at the University of Toledo College of Law. I am excited to have the chance to work with the faculty and staff at @utoledolaw to further the mission of this school which I love.
UToledo OUTLaw organization hosts name change clinic. So proud f the students and faculty who organized this clinic! @utoledolaw https://t.co/9k2AOpZkz6
I just published this letter urging Vermonters to vote for Proposition 5, the Reproductive Liberty Amendment, this fall. The VRA would enshrine reproductive liberty into the Vermont constitution. https://t.co/ZjhSB0NsZb
Thanks to @lsolum for naming my new article, Freedom Seekers: The Transgressive Constitutionalism of Fugitives From Slavery, as download of the wee: https://t.co/4uVLjB6UF7 @utoledolaw
I have been saying this for a long time. Please study the enforcement of, and the resistance to, the Fugitive Slave Act of 1850, because that's where we're headed.

Prof. Zietlow (@ProfessorRZ) examines how fugitive slaves (“freedom seekers”) significantly impacted the Reconstruction Congress on issues such as interstate comity, federalism, citizenship rights, and fundamental human rights despite how history may overlook their contribution.
Until now, fugitives from slavery have largely been absent from the legal scholarship about the Reconstruction Era. This article (part of a larger project on what I call performative constitutionalism (using actions to make Const claims) seeks to remedy that oversight.
