@tii11ili1lIL@ginandjuniper These are corrupt cops that happen to be Mormon. Just like how you used to have the corrupt Irish cops back east, etc. It's possibly a tribalism thing, and also a toxic Utah thing. It isn't a Mormon church thing.
What's frustrating as a Mormon, is how the church is getting pulled into this as though they are complicit. Might there be some Mormon tribalism going on with the police? maybe, but more importantly is that the people involved in this incident are corrupt and they happen to be Mormon. You see the same kind of tribalism with any group, but I'll tell you what, Mormons are usually harder on each other than those outside the group. Utah is a special kind of toxic though.

@braekor Look at some of the comments calling for the church to be investigated over this. Your intentional framing is having the effect you want. These are corrupt cops it would appear. Mormonism doesn't enter into it. Bad people exist everywhere.
Non Mormons who think they are trying to reason with us usually never actually have any first hand knowledge and are regurgitating old and disproved and twisted talking points that are distilled through 10 other people that also never read anything firsthand. If your opinion of reasoning with us is that we just accept your misinformed characterizations then you have an odd idea of reasoning with someone
