By decreasing how much funding it gets, it would force us to be as effective and efficient as possible. The less we spend now, the better. We don't have to grow the treasury anymore if we are patient in using it. If ada 10-50x in the next 4-8 years, the treasury gains that much as well even without adding another single ada to it.
Your last paragraph was a bit of a straw man of my argument, of course we want qualified people, my assertion was that the people who contribute the most value to the ecosystem are the same people who care the most about it. Sometimes the people who add the most value are not also the most "qualified" person. Perfect example is by looking at the delegates, very few of us were technically "qualified" to do what we did, but we all certainly cared a hell of a lot about what we were doing.
The proposal itself might not have anything to do with "how we spend" the funds, but it certainly sets a precedent for how we operate governance and set up the use of the treasury funds. Do we want to be as lean and decentralized as possible, or do we want to have the funds to build centralized organizations to control everything. Give an organization, like intersect, millions of dollars to run a convention, instead of incentivizing community members to build tooling to allow for construction of decentralized governance. The quality of tooling that could have been built with that same amount of money would have been mind blowing, and actually allowed for vast community participation and organization in the process.
The how and what we do is predicated upon why we do things. If we discuss the "how and what" the treasury should be funded for, we are missing the context of why we ought to fund it in the first place. I'm all for the ecosystem having systems to incentivize growth and development, but we need to ask ourselves why we want that which will allow for us to build the best systems to ensure it happens properly. Just throwing more money at problems is rarely the answer, so why don't we eliminate the opportunity for waste from the start, instead of growing a larger and larger potential waste fund.
@JaromirTesar@bigpey Or it will lead to bloat and inefficiencies like we have seen with Intersect. The best development happens from the lean initiatives. Also, when you have people getting fat on gov stimulus, going on a diet afterward is much harder than not letting them get fat in the first place.
Your language here indicates that what you said in another comment:
"We are not attempting to mandate CFs decisions, rather gauge Community sentiment around this topic."
Was a lie.
"must be used" explicitly indicates a mandate, even though you try to soften it with "we are merely suggesting" right afterwards.
Maybe CF is doing what they see is best, to benefit the network, and maybe because they have the ada, they are also financially incentivized to ensure that what is best for the community is what actually happens. Isn't that the entire philosophical idea of proof of stake?
Even if the funds were granted, instead of purchased, they were granted for a reason. The purpose of the blockchain is provide an transparent and immutable function of exchange. Proposing mandates, or even "ideals" for particular organizations or groups, as a communal "mandate", sets hazardous precedents for controlling what others can or cannot do on the blockchain. Especially when that potentially leverages to the point of "defunding" certain organizations.
Ok, but why gauge community sentiment if you aren't attempting to take action regardless?
At best it's a waste of time for the community (who are already exceptionally busy), and at worst it could potentially lead to an outcry mob attempting to force action on an individual or group of people, and use a centralized governing force as the lever to do so.
@william00000010@Star_Forge_Pool The precedent that this action would set, is that the Cardano government can decide to control what certain holders can or can't do with their ada.
I'd say that's a really dangerous precedent to set.
@GR_JSAT Totally up to you! I'm not exactly sure how we'd practice together, but I'm totally down to start practicing/learning ensemble pieces! Just let me know which songs, I think it's a safe assumption that you'd know more ensemble pieces than I would
