One year ago, @POTUS signed four executive orders—14299, 14300, 14301, and 14302—to reinvigorate America’s nuclear industry. Today, we stand on the precipice of a scientific and industrial victory unseen since the Manhattan Project, the dawn of America’s first atomic age. Implementing the President and Secretary’s vision for American energy dominance has been the privilege of my professional career, and one of the greatest experiences of my life.
But none of our incredible accomplishments over the last year, or the even greater ones on the horizon, came about in a vacuum. Instead, America’s nuclear renaissance grew from the efforts of the technical staff, an amazing mix of physicists and engineers who toiled thanklessly for decades during nuclear’s long winters. I cannot thank @POTUS and @SecretaryWright enough for giving me the chance to work directly with the brightest minds in our nation to enable our most innovative entrepreneurs. The real heroes behind our efforts at @ENERGY and @NRCgov will never receive enough public credit for their contributions. I will spend the rest of my career trying to make that right.
Regardless, America’s nuclear success isn’t about any of us. It is, however, a story about all of us and what Americans can accomplish in a year, united by glorious purpose. When our reactors turn on, when we announce the Nuclear Lifecycle Innovation Campuses, when our centrifuges spin, and when our electrorefiners burn away actinides, we will validate America’s exceptionalism. We have much left to do, and many miles to go before we can sleep. But when we are done, we will have given America back its license to dream.
Over 60 experts from 31 organizations—including regulators, technical support organizations #TSO's, and industry—are meeting this week at the Technical Meeting on Licensing of New Technologies and Approaches to Regulatory Readiness and Cooperation. The discussions cover revision of the @IAEAorg #SafetyStandards, new processes for reviewing designs, adaptation of regulatory frameworks, regulatory cooperation initiatives, and consideration of marine applications. Participants are also providing feedback on tools under development for #NHSI Phase II, including the Blueprint for a Global Framework for Advanced Reactor Reviews and other IAEA activities.

@JeffBezos Henry Cavill is not a bad choice but he is a Brit and already associated with the Superman brand. Would love to see another Scot in this role. At 6 feet 2 inches tall and only 39 years old, Stuart Martin would be the most authentic Bond we have seen since Sean Connery.
@MarsPupDreams @Waksman84 I have full confidence that the NRC would not license a reactor design that is not safe. It never has, and I do not see that changing. Advanced reactor benefit from decades of operating experience and include passive safety features or inherently safe designs. What’s the concern?
North Anna Nuclear Generating Station sits in N Virginia (highest concentration of datacenters in the US) and is licensed to add a third giant reactor to its existing two.
It's owned by Dominion Energy.
Running out of clean steady energy is a choice.
It's time to build.
[NUCLEAR POWER & GRID RELIABILITY] Diablo Canyon Nuclear Plant .. is carbon-free, it runs all the time, it’s good base load, and people who run the California system are very grateful for it - Mark Christie, Federal Energy Regulatory Commissioner (FERC)
BREAKING: President Biden just enacted a historic 5.2% pay raise for federal workers. This is the largest pay raise since 1980. This is another example of President Biden’s commitment to building an economy from the bottom up and middle out.
I love Christmas and I’m so lucky that I get to have it twice: on Dec 25th with my friends in London and on January 7th with my family in Montenegro. This is such a special time of the year with so many memories, one of which I wanted to share with you all.
I occasionally do something other than write about nuclear energy.
During our morning walk, we saw an enormous squirrel with distinctive markings and a tail that was longer and bushier than usual.
It's called a "masked face fox squirrel".
Cool, right?
@theNIAorg@NRCgov@TerraPower Bravo! This "Project Management Best Practice" provides a space for early public engagement. Could it be adopted as Commission policy and institutionalized in @NRC Management Directives?
Great study: most solar is on undeveloped land. When I talk about the footprint of renewables, I often hear “But solar can go on rooftops!” Yes, it *can*, but it doesn’t.

2 minute demo of @Quantified_C's new tool for upgrading coal plants to nuclear energy.
This is low hanging fruit for the decarb movement, ensuring we keep global energy affordable, reliable and sustainable.
