Meanwhile, kids get full mocktail bars with virgin piña coladas and fancy garnishes at every birthday party, prom, graduation, and wedding so they feel grown-up.

Context and common sense are dead.

This is peak zero-tolerance insanity punishing kids and destroying an entire season over a harmless graduation tradition.

We celebrate the exact same spirit with kids at birthday parties, weddings, proms, and family events with colorful mocktail bars full of virgin piña coladas, Shirley Temples, rainbow layered punches, and fancy fruit garnishes.

Meanwhile, A group of Ipswich lacrosse seniors posed with fake prop cigars (banana leaf or chamomile, common gag items) during a post-graduation celebration.

The school suspended them under a tobacco policy, forcing the team to forfeit a Div. 4 state semifinal not because they lost on the field but because administrators couldn’t apply basic common sense.

Context and intent matter. Fake props at graduation aren’t a crisis. Let kids celebrate milestones without nuking their teammates’ season.

In US high school students, past 30 day use of E-cigs is down from 27.5% in 2019 to 7.1% in 2025. 30D use of cigarettes is down from 5.8% (2019) to 1.8%. The % of US youth who have used any nicotine product in the past 30D is the lowest it has been since records began! (NYTS).
