Restaurant Opportunities Center of DC
Building power with workers across the DMV for a more just, equitable and dignified restaurant industry! #WorkerPower
Restaurant employers are openly SELF-REPORTING wage theft to the Dept that is supposed to be enforcing workers rights!!! What has @DOES_DC done about it???? We want some answers please 🤔👀 #wageTheft#TipTheft#WorkersRights
•We join millions of supporters who urge Congress to confirm .@ActSecJulieSu as @USDOL Secretary before the end of the 118th Congress. She has been a champion of America's workers! #yesJulieSu@SenSchumer
First councilmember to explicitly come out against restaurant fee...
R White: "Why not move away from fee. This seems crazy to me. All of it. Why not move to a place where a cost of a hamburger is the cost of the hamburger"
Show love to Restaurant Workers today!! Take action to help them protect Initiative 82 which is currently under attack by @ChmnMendelson and @RAMWdc !! Let them know to respect the votes, respect the timeline and respect workers! Sign the petition! https://t.co/tLnFdSuzlt 🫶
Help show love to restaurant workers this Valentine's Day! Tell @ChmnMendelson to keep his promises and respect the I-82 timeline!!! ❤️ Don't break our hearts Phil!! 💔💔
PROTECT TIPPED WORKERS TODAY! @councilofDC will vote on a restaurant bill that could lead to more deceptive service charges that confuse customers & hurt workers. A @CMLewisGeorgeW4 amendment would help restaurants & workers, but two amendments from @ChmnMendelson would harm both
DC residents back raises for restaurant workers and transparent menu prices.
As written, the bill incentivizes some restaurants to add controversial service charges and reduces worker pay.
We can help DC restaurants without tipping the scale toward +20%🧾 or costing workers.👇🏾

B4 telling DC Council how it should undermine the economic security of your own employees and subvert the will of the voters
... why don't you get your own house in order?
Prove to DC how good an employer you are. Submit your tip policies and wages to DOES. As the law requires.
Excluded workers stand in the council chambers as the council votes on whether they commit to using any excess revenue that comes in to support an increase in SNAP benefits and the $20M that was brutally swiped from excluded workers. #NoMeExcluyas
This is an unacceptable abuse of service charges! There must be transparency, accountability and enforcement around where the money from service charges go so that it doesn't impact the wages of the workers who should really be receiving these funds. @DachaDC@DCAttorneyGen
From the DMs.
Treatment of service charges like this isn’t unusual, and I don’t know rules on shift meals and the like at other spots but sharing with you for anyone else to provide context
Happy May Day! Workers at the InterContinental Hotel on The Wharf and Moon Rabbit restaurant just filed for a union election!

We are at the Wilson Building asking @councilofus to save the $20 million in the FY23 budget that was allocated to Excluded Workers! The money was about to be distributed when the Mayor tried to swipe it for her own priorities. Council cannot let her steal money from workers! 1/
We had a busy day at the council! We stopped by @charlesallen’s office because he supported us in the past and we need him to come through again.
Work with @ChmnMendelson and your council colleagues to #StopTheSwipe and give $20 million back to excluded workers!
#DontExcludeMe
We're springing into action because @MayorBowser is trying to take $20 million in cash assistance that was ALREADY WON + promised to excluded workers LAST YEAR. We're counting on @ChmnMendelson & the rest of the Council to #StopTheSwipe!
Be there tomorrow at 9am! #DontExcludeMe
