#WATCH | Morbi, Gujarat: An unusual incident has been reported in Virparda village, Morbi taluka, where a farm well has been showing wave-like movement. The District Collector has ordered a detailed report from the groundwater research team.
Collector Swapnil Khare says, "... Based on reports circulating on social media about the well in Virparda, district geologists visited the site today. Their preliminary assessment suggests the water movement is likely caused by trapped air beneath the water. As the trapped air shifts, it creates movement on the water's surface... The Gujarat Groundwater Research Institute has also been asked to conduct a detailed study and submit a report." (06.08)
Demand for declaration of Hubli-Dharwad as a metropolitan city – Public awareness campaign launched
Today, in a press conference held under the joint auspices of the citizens of Hubli-Dharwad, the "Hubli-Dharwad Metropolitan City Forum" presented its main objective to the people.
The sole agenda of the forum is to declare Hubli-Dharwad as a metropolitan city. Since Hubli-Dharwad has already fulfilled various criteria including the population required to become a metropolitan city, the forum demanded that the Karnataka State Government should declare Hubli-Dharwad as a metropolitan city without any delay. It was stated that this is the legitimate and constitutional right of the people of Hubli-Dharwad.
On this occasion, a special pamphlet was released by the "Hubli-Dharwad Metropolitan City Forum". This pamphlet explains the benefits of declaring a metropolitan city, the opportunities for development and the possible consequences of the division of Hubli-Dharwad on the public, workers, government employees, traders, farmers and all sections of society.
The forum announced that from today onwards, a public awareness campaign will be launched by delivering this pamphlet door to door in all areas of Hubli and Dharwad. It was requested that a large number of citizens participate in this campaign and make the public movement to declare Hubli-Dharwad a metropolitan city a success.

Before We Divide Hubballi–Dharwad, Let's Think About Dharwad's Future
There is an emotional campaign demanding a separate Municipal Corporation for Dharwad. But before supporting such a major decision, every citizen should ask:
Will bifurcation really strengthen Dharwad, or could it actually weaken its future?
This is not about Hubballi versus Dharwad. It is about protecting the long-term interests of both cities—especially Dharwad.
Here are a few facts worth considering:
🔹 Loss of Central Government Funds: Under the 16th Finance Commission, urban local bodies with a population of over 10 lakh are eligible for significantly higher grants. If HDMC is split now, neither Hubballi nor Dharwad will individually cross this threshold, potentially resulting in the loss of substantial funding for roads, drinking water, drainage, solid waste management and other civic infrastructure for the next five years.
🔹 Dharwad Already Has Major Strengths: Dharwad is home to prestigious institutions like IIT Dharwad, IIIT Dharwad, Karnataka University, SDM institutions and several research and educational campuses. It is also witnessing industrial growth. These strengths are enhanced—not diminished—by being part of a larger metropolitan region.
🔹 One Metropolitan Region, One Vision: Thousands of people travel daily between Hubballi and Dharwad for work, education, healthcare and business. Water supply, transport, waste management and urban planning are interconnected. A unified corporation enables integrated planning and efficient use of resources.
🔹 Higher Administrative Costs: Two corporations mean two commissioners, two engineering wings, two finance departments and duplicated administration. Public money that could be spent on development would instead be spent on running two bureaucracies.
🔹 Stronger Together: A larger municipal corporation has greater influence when seeking State and Central Government projects and investments. Smaller corporations generally have less bargaining power.
If Dharwad citizens feel they have not received their fair share of development, that concern is genuine and must be addressed. But the solution is better governance, transparent budgeting, equitable allocation of funds, and greater decentralisation—not necessarily bifurcation.
We should demand:
✅ A dedicated Dharwad Development Plan.
✅ Transparent ward-wise allocation of funds.
✅ Greater decision-making powers for Dharwad's local administration.
✅ Equal and balanced development for both cities.
Hubballi is the commercial engine. Dharwad is the educational, cultural and knowledge hub. Together, they make one of Karnataka's strongest urban regions.
Let us not take an irreversible decision based on emotion. Let us take one based on facts, financial prudence and the future of our children.
A united Hubballi–Dharwad is stronger, more competitive and better positioned to attract investment and development than two smaller corporations.
Let's strengthen HDMC—not weaken it.

A woman is allegedly seen losing her cool on Maharashtra cabinet minister Girish Mahajan, over the traffic snarl caused by the BJP morcha in Mumbai on Tuesday evening. This was during a protest march on the issue of the Women's Reservation Bill. She was heard asking the minister to protest on a ground, and not hold up the traffic by marching on the streets. The opposition hit out at the BJP while appreciating the woman.

First, learn to conquer your current EV customers with timely, top tier service. When you 'conquer' their trust, your service becomes your greatest brand no ads or hype needed.
To sell without service isn’t business; it’s a breach of faith.
Hey @bhash@OlaElectric,
If you continue to ignore customers’ complaints and fail to improve your service, it clearly shows a lack of intent to provide proper after-sales support. Customers deserve accountability and timely service.
@PMOIndia please take note and ensure necessary action. @consaff
Hello @OlaElectric@bhash,
What about the many Ola scooters lying idle in service centres across India awaiting repairs? And their owners? Numerous cases for deficiency in service have already resulted in judgments against you.Learn to honour court orders and prioritize servicing existing customers before pushing new sales. You are now being called as cheater company.
@bhash No matter how advanced your technology, innovative ideas, or new products are, you will never truly succeed unless you resolve your existing customers’ issues to their satisfaction. Learn to respect the laws of the land, court orders, and above all, your customers. Otherwise, all your efforts amount to failure only. @gareebscientist
Instead of only selling your two-wheelers, first clear all pending service issues and court orders. In my case, I already received a favorable judgment from the Consumer Court in January 2026. My scooter has been in your company’s custody for over two years.Shockingly, I received a traffic fine notice (helmet violations), which suggests that my vehicle is being used without my knowledge. This is completely unacceptable and a serious violation and contempt of court. You have also failed to comply with the court’s order and have not paid the compensation. This amounts to contempt of court. Learn first to obey the laws of the land.

Yesterday, an Indian company demonstrated an imported stove that uses electricity to generate flame-like burners, similar to LPG, for cooking. I was truly impressed by this innovative technology and would like to see Indian manufacturers adopt and scale it domestically.
When combined with @PMSuryaGhar, which enables electricity generation through solar power, this innovation could be a game changer in reducing dependence on LPG.
